i was put on PIP and manager put some tasks too..It was one month PIP he planned..He was planning to follow it rigorously..,, My manager told there would be assessment at the end of PIP..
I have resigned..as relations with manager are okay and he is using PIP to create pressure...
I checked with another friend who has been given PIP as well.. his manager told him not to worry and continue the normal work.. His manager told him that he is safe..
Looks like cognizant onsite PIP will not be a problem if you are billed 100% and there are projects for the guy in next 2-3 months at least.Last but not least your relationship with PM.

Am in PIP. onsite. Everything depends on your manager/director. If they want to save you, they wil surely do.
