Thread regarding DeVry Inc. layoffs

Mixed bag (but mostly rotten)

Chamberlain revenue increased 2.4% for the third quarter of fiscal year 2017. Recently granted initial approval to construct a campus in New Orleans, Louisiana.

U.S. Traditional Postsecondary segment revenue down 20.8% to $153.0 million in the third quarter of fiscal year 2017 compared to same time last year.

Revenue decreased at Carrington by 8.3% and 10.1%, compared to the year-ago quarter and nine-month period, driven by a decline in total student enrollment. Enrollment declines at DeVry and Carrington are expected to continue for the remainder of fiscal year 2017.

Severance packages are meager at best so I wouldn't count on them to help much when the door finally slams shut. Get out out now if you can.

The only way we're succeeding at all (if you can call it that) is that a small handful of us are working ourselves to death to try to rescue the students from being totally screwed. I tutor several students a week who are not even in my classes because their visiting professors are impossible to get help from and they have no one else to go to. I am on several additional projects outside of my normal teaching load because there is no one else left to do them. The worst part is that our workloads increase every session and there is no sign that it will ever get better until the inevitable day that DVU finally closes the doors. The only comfort we can take right now is that enrollment is dropping quickly and steadily, and there will be fewer students for us to support. With any luck we will soon cross the threshold that sets us free while there is still money left for severance packages.

How can they continue to cut costs like this without effecting student learning and outcomes?

Anyone else notice that "DeVry" was not mentioned, just DeVry Brasil and Chamberlain in the press release from DeVry? Interesting.

When does Chamberlain cut its tuition? I don't understand how tuition can be so much more than schools with better reputations.

DeVry University new undergraduate student enrollment increased 7.2% for the November 2016 session compared to the same session last year. This increase was principally the result of former students of ITT Educational Services enrolling in DeVry University programs after it ceased operations.

Dangling modifier?
