Is SanDisk toast without that R&D partnership it shares with Toshiba? It looks like the executive team is desperately trying to negotiate a deal.

Without Toshiba's JV, WD/HGST/SanDisk will have no steady access to NAND and this is a big non-no.
How about in house SSD controller or ASIC team?

It looks to me no one is desperate except for WD itself. Why WD is so freaking out if the joint venture is out of our hands. The SANDISK we bought with 16B is a total crap without joint venture??
