Its crazy to see this many people sent home and added responsibility to underpaid existing managers, btw I am a contract employee, working a contract that was signed long ago and since forgotten about, obviously not a part of the management trainee program and or CSX obligations and agreements. My rant continues with what I recently heard about promotion as managers, it has been said, promotions will be based on their disciplinary actions towards contract employees. This has to be the dumbest thing I ever heard from a DE. This is completely backwards and has been proven to fail. This is a sure way to get to failure. If you promote, it "should" be done by completion of assigned tasks on time and monitored etc., but this takes
"coordinated " planning, this is how effeciency is acheived. Those who meet the challenge are worthy of promotion and their efforts should be commended on both sides of the house, contract employees and managers. This method encourages team building and a more efficient, positive work environment. It's nothing new, and neither is a lack of leadership at CSX. Some of us at CSX have done other things in our lives and have the experience and ability to see it's problems at the core, denial and lame effort (and the easy way out) is your worst enemy. There is more to the job than just business for managers at CSX. Take a seat, buckle up and hang on, commend your people for their efforts and stand behind them.
