I will answer it like this . A friend in Sidney purchase a house for 275 thousand in 2014 today he can not sell the house for 183 thousand. Another friend purchase a house for 525 thousand and he can not sell the house for 390 thousand. The stories goes on and on of personal difficulties of Sidney local residences in the last few years because of the situation at Cabela's. I would suggest the city council could do something besides TO TREAT SMALL BUSINESSES OR HOMEOWNERS LIKE COMMON CRIMIALS who need to be watched non stop with these ordnances . Then they ACT LIKE A CHEERLEADER OR A BANKER TO HAND OUT MONEY TO ANY BIG BUSINESS WHO WANTS TO TALK. Or I should say management personnel of big business.

You need to get out of Mayberry every once in a while. You are delusional. The city council are are a bunch of bumpkins that barely can deal with stray cats. When a company stands to make billions on a sale the city council has no bargaining chips. What are they going to say to stop the job loss....the governor of Nebraska wouldn't be able to stop this job loss. Sidney is done, put a fork in it.

A person sometimes wonder on how important strong leadership at city hall concerning the Cabela situation is . Gary Person resigned August 15 , 2015. This mess with Elliott started October 28, 2015 and the rumor bass pro was buying Cabela's started in Montana November 12, 2015. I was not a real the biggest Gary Person fan however he was a hard worker and brilliant at economic growth in Sidney. When Gary Person left he was replaced my people who are terrible with economic growth and concern themselves with cat problems, dog problems , sign problems , almost every issue EXCEPT FIGHITNG TO KEEP THE EMPLOYER OF 2000 PEOPLE IN SIDNEY NEBRASKA.

I consider this to be the dumbest remark on this site. "Also, the Sidney city council has nothing to do with retaining Cabela's. How are they going to fight to keep jobs. Cabela's shareholders stand to make millions....what is the city council going to offer them?" The survival of Sidney Nebraska depends on the decisions and outcome of what happens at Cabela's. I do not believe one minute of council has been spent on the Cabela's situation at in the last 6 months. I could right a book on potential steps a city council could do to try and retain Cabela's in Sidney . ONE OF THEM IS NOT TO INGORE THE PROBLEM AND SPEND MORE TIME DISCUSSING THE STRAY CAT PROBLEM, THE DOG'S GOING ON THE SOCCER FIELDS, WEATHER THE EX POLICE CHIEF WILL DOUBLE AS A LIFEGUARD IF A POOL IS PEOPLE BY THE PROPOSED POLICE STATION WHICH THANK GOODNESS WASN'T APPROVED. The time is for leadership on the council and within the community lets start today to save our community from financial ruins.

The shareholder vote is a formality. You don't sell a company until you go to all of the big institutioanl investors and see if they support it. If you have a majority you move forward. These deals cost a lot to arrange, you don't just wing it and hope for the best.

Also, the Sidney city council has nothing to do with retaining Cabela's. How are they going to fight to keep jobs. Cabela's shareholders stand to make millions....what is the city council going to offer them?

For those of us that don't live in Sidney, what did the negative ad say?

Did the doomsday commenter pay for the negative ad in the local newspaper?

I don't think the shareholders have even approved the current deal. If I remember correctly, the last stockholder meeting lasted about 15 minutes and the only vote was a proxy vote approving the executive's compensation packages. The Bass Pro deal was not even discussed. This is such a mess.

to the previous poster well put. the individual spouting off about the 26th is more than likely a troll who enjoys nothing more that stirring the pot. Maybe he should lick his own spoon.

Where did you get the June 26 th date. Keep in mine the agreement will probably have to be redone. the agreement still must get approval from the FTC . Then the stockholders of Cabela's still need to approve the deal. I do not know how June 26 th is a realistic date for the completion of the sale. Who knows we may still get some leadership from city hall to devote their time to fight to keep the lifeline of Sidney ne here and put on hold ordinances to hound our small businessmen and homeowners out of existence .

Since 2009, the stock market has absolutely nothing to do with reality or the company.

Or do you believe America's economy is the best its ever been by a very wide margin? As the stock market indicates.

And if you do, maybe ask the 43 million food stamp recipients why they need food stamps if everything is so wonderful.

Looks like Synovus is in talks to buy the CLUB. Trading was halted as a result of the surge.
