Been with cablevision 5 yrs. where doesn't matter. Seen a lot of changes happen. I read alot about this new owner. And it scares me. Got 2 kids and wife. She's gotta work to help out. We live in a apartment and not a mansion somewhere in manhattan. There's less work to do so they are doubling us up. Not a good sign. Not important how I know many changes is gonna happen after June 17th. I just know from someone I know upstairs. A good man. he wishes it didn't have to happen. We're going to lose many customers this summer. And more firings. Layoffs. All the same. Lots of good techs are here no more. Good friends. They taught me alot. And I feel stupid cuz i was one of them that voted no to union. I wish I got another chance to vote now. Later will be 2 late.

"The union won't save your job. Only you can. Just do your job and did it well, you will be fine."
Message to management: really need to come up with a new slogan. you're sounding beyond pathetic.
Over the past 9 months, how many employees have been incrementally pushed out of the company? How many departments have been outsourced or eliminated? How many decided to just GTFO of this quagmire?
Were they not doing their jobs well?
or were they just victims of the "Drahi Method" ?
Message to techs: WE ALL NEED TO WAKE UP
-
Brooklyn - has CBA
-
Oakland - negotiating CBA
-
Newark - on the pathway to CBA

rest of footprint - future of employment uncertain. all that exists right now is a culture of fear, confusion, contention and indifference
-
ATS - coerced into becoming an at-will contractor with no rights -- terms & conditions of employment can/will be changed at anytime without any accountability
it's unfortunate that so many of us continue to be blinded by the lies & manipulation of management.
Everyone need to pay attention to the IBEW Local 3 and understand what it really means when unionized workers are able & willing to stand up for their rights en masse. Valuable lesson to be learned from this strike.
The union won't save your job. Only you can. Just do your job and did it well, you will be fine. If the company is going to cut, they will cut the union can't do anything about that. They don't run the company. Take advantage of all the opportunities that are being presented to you. Learn new jobs apply for anything and volunteer for whatever you can.
ATS is investing too much money and training to just cut you out. These guys are all about business and to train someone and get them up to speed just to cut them, is beyond dumb.
Plus, which one of us can afford to pay a union any amount of money. I have a house a wife and two kids also, I know I can't.
You are not the only one regretting the "NO". Hearing it everywhere.
@New Cable Guy
Please tell us why you voted NO for the union.
I was part of the organizing committee in the Bronx and was trying to educate a lot of the newer techs. They repeatedly told us that they didn't want a union because they believed that they would be "alright". We'd respond by saying Altice is looking to cut everything to the bone. We need to do something to protect what we have. We were brushed off like we ain't know what we talking about.
Seems to me, many of the newer techs were blinded by management. Management basically coddled you guys and kept you inside a comfort bubble, giving you 'outstanding' reviews, unlimited overtime and allowing you guys to come in early from your shift to play pool with the supervisors. Life was great for you.
We've been sounding the alarm ever since September 17th, 2015 when Dolan announced that he sold our azzes to Altice. Here we are a year and half later and we're witnessing a complete dismantling of what was once a lucrative and respectable company.
Don't know whether to be sad or angry at this point but we all just gonna have to face the reality that we had the opportunity to protect ourselves and we chose to do nothing.
U better listen to that man and wake the eff up
Wow. After a whole 5 years here you must know every one "upstairs"...! "many changes is gunna happen".How can anybody take you serious when you speak like that!
Don't feel bad. Union was not going to change anything in this situation.
Yes sir
Take a look around. It's not just your company, it's going on everywhere. But you have to dig deeper than CNN or FOX to find the truth, like this site for example.
USA is in its death throes after a "recovery" built on loose credit, low interest rates, and trillions in Monopoly money printed by the Federal Reserve.
That's what governments do when they know it's the end, they go all out to buy themselves just a few more years.
Those years are up now.
