Thread regarding Sysco Corp. layoffs

Sysco continues with restructuring

Sysco is terminating employment with middle management staff, administrative as well and some of the sales people. Some Opcos do not have Presidents and cutting down District Sales managers position.

The restructuring is suppose to last a year. Currently, it is still ongoing. The biggest reason for this is Sysco shares have not been doing well and the investors needed an action plan, by eliminating staff, that is one way to see shares going up. However, that will only last so long. Sysco is also hiring sales consultants at a much lower pay and without any sales experience. The biggest competitor for Sysco is Amazon.

Sysco is a great company as a stepping stone for sales training and experience if that is the area that you are interested in, but get use to changes fast if you like change, whether they are good or bad ones. Their doors are always open for individuals that are interested in sales. Remember this though, it's a revolving door.

I worked for Sysco for many years. Sysco Canada decided it would cut most of the middle management jobs then repost them under a different name allowing them to pay much lower wages. The only loyalty Sysco has is to their bottom line executive team. Tough work environment for anyone left knowing layoffs are not done
