Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Nothing screams Monday morning happiness like receiving perpetual addendum’s of an HR policy.

Shira, regarding your 20/20 FAST! acronym. Looks like you may need to provide an additional addendum here as well, as FAST! now appears to stand for “F-- All Staples Talent!”.

Snippet:

  • The Company reserves the right to change my hours, wages and working conditions at any time.

Yea I started back in July of 2000. I finally ended up leaving in August of 2015. My company now has way better benefits and I am enjoying life once again. Who wants to work for 1.5% after you give 3%, what they call a match!!!

I am so glad i don't work there any more. When I started as a Gm there in 99 I thought this was the greatest company I ever worked for. Then something happened Tom Stiemburg retired and the company started to decline year after year. I got out 3 years a go and it was toxic then. I read this page to see what is happening with this once great company because I still know people who work there. It sounds worse then ever. Get out while you can with other retailers closing stores jobs are going to be harder to find. I found a great company you can to if you set things in motion.

I think many of the execs are just waiting to be dismissed, so their sweet golden parachutes deploy.

Until then they have to reason to even try to "fix" things. At Staples, with the C level and just below it, failure pays off better than success.

This company needs to go. Maybe someone who has business sense and ethics would buy it. Anyone has to be better than the C level Staples has now. I worked yesterday and it was the slowest day ever. I really don't think my store will remain open. There is NO business, unless you count the people coming in to complain or return items.

This is probably in reaction to the increased amount of wrongful termination lawsuits and complaints of ageism being brought against them (I know of at least five naming VS personally).

Stores are also being directed to fire associates that do not meet quotas on the Liquid Armor crap they try to push, even if those associates are above average in every other way.

It definitely looks like they are working up to a full scale push on harassment & termination rather than mere layoffs with severance. This company has become toxic to the core.

There was also a line about consenting that Staples reserves the right to "terminate employment for any reason, without notice".

Sounds like they are gearing up for a Stalin level purge.
