The 'back to the labs' move has nothing to do with innovation. Michele may have taken a long time to think about it but she has no idea what this is doing to perfectly good teams that can and do work well in disparate locations. The reason this became popular is because Watson was developed in this way in Research. Immediately Executives and others think...everything should be done this way. Insanity.
I have personally lost really good (in fact some of the best) pers I have known in IBM to this form of RA.
Why would people move when then can get jobs elsewhere and stay where they are.
Not even the beginning of what IBM employees are about to see.
