Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Worst culture to work in

Employees have been living in a limbo for last 2.5 years and management confirms that this is the new norm. S--- it up. More mergers and deals will result in more layoffs. Its is no secret in this economy. They want to take advantage in the downturn to grow by acquisitions and mergers.

Management doesn't give a damn about the workforce, it's a numbers game for them. All activity is focused on fat juicy pay checks for the once at the top of the food chain. The rest are cornered to take pay cuts.

Hi,

I came to Enbridge thinking of growing and that positions has been reduced to individual contributor. Also very very surprised to see that no one ever gets promoted here except the upper management. You don't see HR face at all here and everything over phone only. Just pulling along as no great long term prospects here. Surprised to see that high performing individuals were booted or reduced to lesser roles. Definitely I don't see career growth here and you see all these layoffs here. We don't even know who is gone (unlike some other organizations where you know through email or intranet)

So I was a victim of the OCT round of layoffs in Houston and I have to agree on the culture. Blessing in disguise I was let go.

Also, I wasn't so upset about being laid off as I knew it's part of the business and happens often when companies merge. What made me upset was the way in which it was sold to employees. The whole Building Our Energy Future and 'Get excited about the future!' and reorganization to enhance processes and efficiency was such BS. Everyone could see right through it.

Just be straight and say we need to cut jobs and we're doing it now. Don't sell it to the employees in some nice neat package and draw it out for so long.

I think ENB has some great people on the ground, but the upper management is completely disconnected and it shows.

The management has figured out a way to take advantage of the economy and exploit both employees and contractors

Bully like attitude is not fu-king rite. And is exactly what everyone is facing. You don't like, then FU. You speak ,FU. You talk about it then FU. Eventually the message is to suk managements d-ck or get out.

Employees have no room to grow anymore and no promotions to hope in short in the OG industry overall till now. Where is the integrity ? Oh that value was for talking points only. Greed ,opportunists and politics are actually more

All this is in the name of expense reduction. This is a company that is least hit by oil price and has done better over the last year. They are opertunists and will make sure to save every penny they can. People don't have many options and Enbridge knows that. They will push you till you break.

Laying off older workforce also reduces companies commitment to defined benefits pensions in long run. They might as well hire cheap contractors to replace them or even junior new employees without a commitment to old good pension plans.

All in all total GREED and a scheme designed to f-- and exploit the workforce as much as possible.

Sorry for those who are a still employed, as you might have to face this for the next few years. Total mental torture. Next round in sep-0Get ready again. The fat HR lady will be coming to your desk with pink slip.

Comment about PD is the best one I've seen here yet. Indeed, Indeed We're not the same company since he left and AM took over. We've been going down the tubes ever since regardless of the turn of the industry/economy.

What would Pat Daniels say about what has become of this company and its senior management and what's left of the moral of its employees?

It's just not Spectra/Enbridge. I'm middle aged and worn out. Worked 10 -15 hours more than my department mates at a major and was the let go in round 1 of a layoff. The next person who took my job quit after 3 months because it was so bad. Fortunately found work again in a Marcellus/Utica company but the life is being s---ed out of me quickly. Bad prices + a lot of under or unemployed O&G people make everyone under senior mgt disposable.

It’s a big club and you ain't in it. You and I are not in The big club. By the way, it’s the same big club they use to beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe. All day long beating you over the head with their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy. The table has tilted folks. The game is rigged and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. Good honest hard-working people . . . white collar, blue collar it doesn’t matter what color shirt you have on. Good honest hard-working people continue, these are people of modest means . . . continue to elect these rich c---s---ers who don’t give a f--- about you. They don’t give a f--- about you . . . they don’t give a f--- about you. They don’t care about you at all . . . at all . . . at all, and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. That’s what the owners count on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue d--k that’s being jammed up their a--holes everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth. It’s called the American Dream cause you have to be asleep to believe it . . .” - George Carlin

So glad to be the hell outta there. Sounds like the morale is so low, you'd need a backhoe to find it. Employees, once very proud of the Company and the jobs they were doing as they helped to turn Consumers Gas into the ultra profitable Enbridge, now loathe coming to work to be treated as less than human...just a number in the budget.

They used to say "We don't know why you all need a Union for. We treat you all right. We are one big happy family". Uh huh.
