The "culture of fear" is going to do wonders to accomplish any type of goals. I do not see fear in people at all. I just see a whole lot of really angry employees. Collectively they really could have accomplished any goal given. I work with extremely talented employees and the place is nothing but a paycheck to all left.
The company has also been letting go of other employees at Suddenlink in small, less noticeable numbers; some employees stating Altice's cost cutting has resulted in a "culture of fear" at the company.
Wish you luck check your employee directory in neighboring towns reach out to other techs call them ask them if they are concerned about their employment. Set up a meeting if possible. Inquire don't be afraid it will be tough sledding, but once you conquer the fear of management you will be good and in a better frame of mind.
It's in the works with IBEW but like I said getting people to sign and stand their ground tell it happens is the hardest part we tried few years back but everyone got scared. Hopefully now that people are dropping like flies and quitting b/c they are scared of the switch over we can get everyone signed up this time. If we could get more than one Suddenlink office to join would prolly do us wonders
The IBEW or any other union will not magically appear. YOU GUYS need to reach out to them. As mentioned before, if you've got at least 30% of the employees interested, then you can get the ball rolling.
Getting guys to join the union is the hardest thing everyone so worried about losing their job. Maybe this time will be different than last since we all know Altice is going to screw us big time. Just wish we could get more of other Suddenlink regions involved and hopefully the IBEW will start a move for us soon
Don't know how many techs you have out there (field service plus Outside Plant), but you need to find out what top-gun unions are in your area. Whether it's IBEW or CWA. Normally these unions will take steps IF you have at least 30% of the guys interested in forming a union. Three out of ten.
Talk to your guys to find out if you have the numbers needed. DO NOT have "union chatter" when any management personnel is in the area. Remember, their jobs are at stake. And they'll lose it if your shop becomes unionized.
But hey, war is war... and Altice is NOT taking prisoners!
Good luck keep putting out info maybe a few of you can start something protect what you have
Most Suddenlink areas aren't employed by as many as a NY area system maybe in Texas though but most areas are a population in the 20,000 or smaller towns combined into one market . Not sure what will happen but not hearing great things and yes on previous post there have been buy outs . Most of what the cable vision area is seeing is headed our way per HR....hearing all kinds of rumors and the unknown is driving people to be stressed all day long and people considering other options.
Cable07 are you suddenlink if so what region?
Yes we were are here waiting, watching, researching. We have been told by HR that we get to be transferred to ATS mid Summer...almost all of SDL upper and Management and Execs already gone. Most if not all store personnel have Alticeusa email accounts, most of our procedures were converted into what cablevision or optimum is doing. A lot of people taking but outs and people being shuffled around.
We haven't been switched yet but it's coming, we want to try and get unioned but need lil help if you guys can get us any info we sure would appreciate it. They are already trying to stick it to us and can only imagains what's going to happen when ATS come along
It takes one phone call.
You guys better get your act together. And don't think you're NOT going to get hit. Call your local union organization to set up a meet. Get the info from them, this website and a little research of your own. Let the techs tell you what's going on. And you'll get both sides.
More importantly, look at Altice's past history and see what they've done to your European counterparts. This is their business model and they're using it here. In America. Don't think you're any more special or different from the guys in the east.
That "it aint gonna happen here."
Your company is profitable with little competition. Only DSL threatens you. And Altice knows it.
The economy is rough. So, protect what you have NOW before it's taken away later.
Did they create ATS in sudden link also?
No I wished we could get something organized!
