Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Tomorrow's Radio Shack? No my friends it's TODAYS Sears!

If you think you will be working at Staples five years from now you must be a liquidator.

When I worked at Sears I used to walk around and shake everyone's hand and asked them for their help

Keep an eye on your stock levels. When a category starts to get thin from a major vendor it may just be because the vendor is NOT getting paid or is holding back for fear of not getting paid. This will be the canary in coal mine.

The whole home office is doing anything to justify their jobs. They have no concern this means the people in the stores, who don't have enough help, don't have the time to spend with the customers, you know, the ones who pay your salary?

Until the president or whoever gets a grip, I don't see this place around too much longer.

Exactly.

Things are ALWAYS way worse behind the scenes than what the company portrays. Two weeks ago Sears was repeating the standard "We expect to be profitable next year" line.

Yesterday they admitted they can't even afford to stock the shelves.

Same goes for all retailers, many of which are clinging by their teeth, but few know it.

The coming weeks and months will be quite revealing.
