Most of the decisions at Dell is made y Directors and up. If you don't play by their rules and kiss up you are not going to have a job. You can be the best but end of the day kissing up helps to stay in your job.

MD has good intentions however his henchmen are too greedy and egotistical to see the value of the folks. Dell is poised to shrink as time goes on to pay down the debt in a slow economy .

i can tell you that prior to my layoff my manager's calendar was mixed between "business update" one-on-ones (layoff calls) and technical interviews with +91 area codes hiring for my position. It's very clear that they are letting the people at the top go in favor of hiring cheap labor from abroad.

Oh sure they are, Just not the inside or outside sales people they just fired. This seems to be a trend in IT these days. Fire the highest paid in a given role and then advertise the same job openings for less money. Keeps the troops fresh and Mikey can pay down his enormous debt load a little at a time. Never mind the experience and productivity loss because it sure looks good on paper!
