Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Cabelas just cut Customer service in sidney

Just got the phone call from a family member that has worked for over 30 yrs, that they have 30 days.. This is where greed gets you folks. As some smile all the way to the bank, some cry trying to figure out whats next.

Look at this - we (collectively) have covered this here on layoffs-com almost 1.5 days before it hit the news cycle... http://www.ktts.com/news/local-news/layoffs-at-cabelas

if you bough into the lie, paid for one those overpriced homes with prices driven up by the local flock of real estate vultures. Then you are idiots. How long did you think it was going to last. Sure;ly you did not believe you would be a recipient of a piece of the pie.

That was reserved for a select few of us key individuals, the masters of Sidney and the Golden ones of Cabelas Corporate.

You were all just lambs to the slaughter, cannon fodder, for those who played you like the sheep and fools that you were.

You were lured to hell with lies and false hopes, to provide for us a secure future

Enjoy what you have earned, while we who were in charge enjoy out just earned and deserved rewards.

Everything is so messed up with the town, town beliefs, company in general, etc. that all of this should be made into a documentary. I cannot believe some people are in denial about this and think it'll only get better...

just a thought, since the call center is moving to North Platte, isn't the previous city manager (a crooked cabelas shill, on the corporate payroll), now the city planner or manager of North Platte, coincidence i think not

Fine leadership of our city counsel, put your collective heads in the sand, ignore the problem and collect your graft, all the while crying all is well all is well.

I was concerned to about the layoffs and I listen to the city council tonight. Cabela's layoffs will probably be the top local story in every media outlet tomorrow in Nebraska tomorrow morning. City council fans will be happy to note not one second was devoted to discussing this issue. I assume more important stories took place. Such as voters make sure to pick after you doggy at the soccer fields and everywhere else in Sidney . Of course the truck route and truck parking was discussed for over and hour.

Everyone on this is sour and disgruntled. Don't tell me it's a good thing and Cabelas will be better. I have a mortgage, car payment, ortho, health care bills, and 4 children to send to college with no job and a home I can't sell. At least I have a good life policy.

I just read the, "fine leadership of this city council." And I LOL'd. Hard. Whomever believes this town will rise again is either on crack or haven't lived anywhere else than this piece of @&$! town. Apparently people in this community need a really good lesson on how business works!

Cabelas is over, sold out to the highest bidder. Don't care about anything but the best deal. Family run company went public and sold out. Management hit the Lottery. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Phoenix are you on drugs - Cabelas will rise again - cabelas is being sold, bozo. It will take one year from the closure of the deal until Cabelas as a brand will be completely gone, period. You need to stay in your little world and take medication

Hey Paige Yowell why don't you right a article about the silent loosers of this fallout. The small businesses that were forced to close and or reduce because of this corporate fiasco.

Yes it is sad that so many of the cabelas employees are getting the shaft they are not the only one suffering in the town

Or is that not important to you? Because it does not have the cabelas name attached to it and it is not controversial enough for you and your paper?

Like the phoenix Cabelas WILL return and on that day i will be able say I told you so to all the haters and naysayers who chose to bad mouth, ridicule the fine leadership of the city council, the board of directors and the executive team

The community and the company is going through a growing phase and I pity the fools who are to ignorant to see it. Keep buying the lie and fail to accept the truth and you will be left behind from the train of opportunity that is about to arrive.

You sir are the simply stupid one if you fail to see the truth of the situation. Once again I reiterate Cabelas and Sidney Nebraska will return to all their glory and beyond.

It is you who fail to see the truth and the path that we are traveling.

It is negative individuals like your self who seek to see Cabelas and Sidney fail for your own selfish reasons and pleasure.

The company will grow - are you simply stupid .... cabelas is the joke of the industry, customers are backing away from failure, the leadership is totally inept, it is a joke - sr management and the so called outside advisors who were fired raking in millions while the ship is sunk - this is the laughing stock of the industry. Vendors simply shake their heads at how tommy and gang have run the company into the ground while making millions. To you who believe that cabelas is going to rise with the ashes, enjoy the fantasy ride - it will be a sad one

i agree with the last poster even though the grammar is atrocious, the board or directors, the executive team and the city council are wise people with the best interest of the people of Sidney, the outfitters and the loyal customers at heart.

Let them do their job. If you cannot see the big picture and have chosen to wear blinders it is your own fault.

Sidney and Cabelas will come back as a force to be reckoned with. And they both will dominate the market as well as western Nebraska, eastern Wyoming and Northern Colorado.

i do not know what you are all worried about, The board and corporate leaders are just trimming to put the company in a better position to grow. Mark my words and you will see Cabelas will come back stronger and grander than ever. and Sidney will grow exponentially along with it.

Just wait and see, Sidney and see they will dominate the panhandle eastern Wyoming and northern Colorado.

If you do no like the growing pains leave.

If this was the sale there would be a hell of lot more than 75 layoffs. This is to offset the terrible numbers they reported. They have to cut costs because they are light on revenues.

The original post stated the layoff would occur on March 3. Wasn't there another post about vp giving someone a warning?

The company didn't destroy the town...it destroyed individual lives. The owners and execs made hundreds of millions...set up charities...serve mass...lead bible study...but don't lift a finger to help all those around them in need. Self-righteous, Shameful.

The company did not destroy this town. It's the town's fault for ever depending on this company in the first place. Companies do not last forever.

Sadden by Greed: think of the people affected by this before you say stuff; especially accusations. Cabela's has done a lot for Sidney and the surrounding areas. This is just business. And FYI, I was directly affected by this.

Not eliminating Customer Service, just moving jobs to other locations; not a lot of Customer Service was here in Sidney anymore, jobs had been moved to other locations because hiring for that Dept. here is Sidney was not good. Layoffs are never easy or fun but are a necessity unfortunately. The tough part is when a position altogether gets eliminated and some of those people deserve a job more than others whose position is still apart of that Dept. By law most will get paid for a certain amount of time because Companies can't just layoffs with no notice -- I know because I was part of a previous layoff at Cabela's. Companies need to survive and layoffs are a necessary evil. And most will get additional severance pay.

I don't know how you can get rid of Customer Service - what do you do with returns, exchanges or ISP's. I could see if they were downsizing and were letting some of the employees go but to just eliminate Customer Service doesn't make much sense.
