I wish I knew if the Bartow rumor was legit. But I can tell you that ATS, or Altice, has the support of the Public Service Commission to shut it down or relocate. Under Job Protections.....
"To ensure the continuation of adequate service, Cablevision will be precluded from laying off or involuntarily reducing or taking any action that is intended to reduce, with the exception of early retirement incentives and attrition, customer-facing6 jobs in New York for the four years
following the date of the issuance of this Order.
In addition, Cablevision will be required to maintain, for two years following the close of the transaction, at least 14 out of 18 walk-in centers throughout its New York footprint."
I don't know how many they have closed thus far.
You're right @MggBhIb-1gwk.
The CWA gave up on the Altice-CVC merger deal last year during the Public Service Commission hearings. My "gut" feeling is that IBEW have smarter attorneys. The hearing report says that CWA retracted everything and that CWA and CVC had settled all disputes. Huh?????
@MggBhIb-gqn, what does that tell you?? Altice cannot be trusted. You guys in the Bronx better wake up!! When you guys are eligible to petition a union I'd consider contacting someone at the IBEW because your results with the CWA aren't good.
When the union campaign was going on in the Bronx recently and all of the head bosses were there someone asked this question. The answer that was given was no, that isn't happening.
If true, it's just a ploy to have employees resign and help them reduce employees at will to fatten their pockets.
Guess the commissioner order doesn't cover relocation. There's always a way around everything.
New York State Public Service Commission's Order (page79)
Job Protections – To ensure the continuation of adequate service, Cablevision will be precluded from laying off or involuntarily reducing or taking any action that is intended to reduce, with the exception of early retirement incentives and attrition, customer-facing jobs in New York for the four years following the date of the issuance of this Order.
For purposes of this Order, “customer-facing jobs” is defined to mean those positions with direct interaction with customers; including, but not limited to call center and other walk-in center jobs, and service technicians.
