Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

If Your Salary Is Reduced By 10% (your pay cut)....... THEN YOU'RE ALREADY PAYING UNION DUES!!!

Huh??? What the hell is he talking about?

That's right. You just don't see it that way. And the math is pretty easy. Here goes....

Say you earn $40,000 per year. The deduction or PAY CUT, would be $4000. Agreed?

Based on union dues being 1.7% of your salary, $28.33 would be deducted from your check.

The $4000 that YOU LOST would have paid for FIVE AND A HALF YEARS !!!!

Divide $4000 that you lost by $28.33 and you get 141.

141 union payments. There's 26 payments per year.

5 and 1/2 YEARS !!!!

So WHY is the argument about PAYING UNION DUES such a big deal? Huh???

So if you're NOT for the union, then you've paid your dues to Altice. Go figure.

The difference here is that those who are FOR the union are WILLING to make that sacrifice through their choice.

And those who are against HAD NO CHOICE.

So, let me say, on behalf of Altice NV...... THANK YOU !!!!

if you chose to take the 2% then you're next on the ax. ATS dont want anybody making too much. And now you're taking another 2%. Making too much already plus 2%. Man, I'll be seeing you!

Union dues begin when the contract is signed. That's when their services as representatives begin.

Truth be told...

In future statements please remember that Brooklyn and Oakland are not being given a move to ATS as an option. In time those shops will possibly either be closed or traded to another company. Remember Oakland does not have a contract and may not have for some time. They may feel the same pain that Brooklyn has and is feeling. Booklyn's contract does not give them what other non union shops already have. They must wait to see what they can get if they make it to contract renewal with Altice. Having a union and/or voting one is has not simplified life for either shop. In reality it has only caused more frustration and anguish. Here's a question:

Say Oakland gets a contract, are the dues they have to pay retroactive to date that contract is approved and signed or are they retroactive to date of election? Just wondering.

Yeah but your argument is too focused on a one sided scenario driven by a big fat "if"

You've effectively diminished the impact of your argument by excluding an existing option.

Um.....many of us have chosen to keep our base pay and take a 2% bonus. So by your logic we chose to not pay dues.

The nerve you guys have about getting on these guys about union dues. Lay off that argument. You're going to be doing the same. Except your union is called Altice.
