Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

Entire teams got whacked

Could be as much as 9% - 10%. Very sketchy announcement.

Announcements went out to specific groups from functional VPs and department heads, to show smaller numbers. For example, the emails said, 100 in our group.

However, Entire teams got whacked. Even good VPs, great architects and productive engineers. The common thread in engineering is anyone who kissed JDs dumb a-- was saved. Pathetic.

That guy and his cohorts have to go. JD, cant lead JDI, DS, cant tell her head from her a**, leave alone what to build. They need to hit the road. Why does Jonathan and his team of friends and idiots all over the company get to stay? Pathetic. Absolutely pathetic.

I have agree with the poster who says "Employees are much happier at Cisco." You just have to look at the employee number change within a given time period. Cisco vs. Juniper is almost 1:10. If employees would be happier at Juniper they would have stayed longer.

JD was a great, savvy & charismatic leader. A big loss for Juniper and a great win for Cisco. DS is also a good leader. It'll be unfortunate if Juniper loses her too. Employees are much happier at Cisco.

Well you know very well at his level, and yours, and with the connections you all have, you don't get nuked. You get talked out of a job instead - so you can keep the pride and arrogance with you for the next job. The reality is, he may not have told you, but JD was looking for a job for months. That means he was given the fast fail. What was RR thinking, putting him in charge of it all, in the first place. That's one strike against the big man.

The question is, how long can we last before the next layoff? Three months? Put your ear to the tracks and let us all know. After all, isn't that your job? Communicate. You are closer to it than the rest of us. At least before the train derails, and/or you all re-route to Cisco to follow your friend.

Don't think JD got nuked, as much as some Juniper folks would love that to happen. He left. Now he has rejoined Cisco only a week after leaving Juniper.

Are you at Cisco or do you wish you were at Cisco?

From what I can tell, your buddy JD got nuked. RR and VM are both well aware of what is going on. JD's stiff-arm meddling caused more bad than good all around. Lots of bad decisions were made, or influenced by JD and his team of cohorts than you would want to know, and they led the company astray with a string of bad decisions - technical and strategic. Huge investments were made in technology 'gambles', that didn't pay off. Sadly, the result of all this is, layoffs. Cost cutting to survive. Tightening the belt. And more to come. Yes, more layoffs will come - mostly targeting JD's fiefdom - those he strategically placed and influenced to appoint in PLM/Engineering and even outside his domain in Operations, Marketing and elsewhere. You cant make these things up, can you?

That is quite unfortunate.

I'd be careful with posting names here, even initials. I am with Cisco and just lurking here but I can tell you what I've observed on our board: Anything that can trace to an individual will get nuked, they (admins) nuke all things that are not clean from the language perspective. Typically, they nuke all your messages and they block your IP. Now depending on how much you contribute here, losing a ton of messages s---s - when it comes to the IP blocking you can always use a proxy but it's such hassle (speed, some proxies are already banned, etc.) that I would not go in this direction....

Anyhow, I hope you guys do not have more cuts - we've had one every year for god knows how many years, and it's simply horrible. The mood cannot be worse and most folks do not enjoy working here any more.
