Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Management telling you don't need a union....

...is like Colonel Sanders telling the chickens to trust him because he really has their best interests at heart. Didn't the Dolans tell you that you didn't need a union? Meanwhile they had that Steve Miller song playing in their heads, "Go on, take the money and run". The upper management that wants you to just trust them all have contracts, believe me. And with the contracts they have they get a big payday even if the company lets them go. But when you worker bees want representation they tell you that you shouldn't have to pay union dues, and they tell you unions are for communists, and that good workers don't need unions. ALL BULLSHEET. I've worked both union and non union and there is no comparison between the two. You will get better pay, better benefits and better job security with the union. Just the advice of somebody who's been around the block a few times.

I would avoid names in posts, that's not allowed here. Site admins nuke all posts containing names, no matter how valuable other info the post contains. Source - myself, they deleted few of mine last week. Just sayin'

No it's cool. But yes it was four times and a fifth that didn't make it. You can ask K. Sparta at CWA he was in all of them with us.

Just to get this straight and we don't go back and forth name calling. I AM NOT ANTI UNION. I just don't remember voting more that twice. Being a pot head didn't help either.😜

In Dec of 98 they gave more money, told us that their was no Mandatory OT and $500 in Wiz bucks. I remember that well because we had that meeting over at Soundview outdoors. But we never petitioned a union or did we vote on one. Over the years lots of union talks have gone back and forth. But to my knowledge we've only voted twice. Once the CWA pulled out because they felt they didn't have the numbers.

Really in 98 you say? Who came to visit us in December of 98 and what did he give us?

Because it was five Union attempts Iam not delusional like some people here. Four big failed attempts and one that failed to get to a vote. So your full of it to say only 2 times.

As for the other guy who says: You will get better pay, better benefits and better job security with the union. Just the advice of somebody who's been around the block a few times.

Brooklyn didn't get better pay. In fact Brooklyn didn't get anything. Just a voice lol. Bit of a whispering one though.

I've been in the Bronx since 1998. We've voted only 2x's to Unionize and failed. Don't know where your coming up with those dates.

Actually Bronx voted against Union 98-2001-2005-2012-2017

Bronx seems to really not be interested in Union at all.

you're preaching to the choir here. (for most part)

management has been discouraging us from exercising our right to organize for decades.

they've now taken it a step further by infiltrating this website attempting to demonize IBEW, claiming that all they're doing is "spreading fear" & "ruining lives" --- complete nonsense.

  • Brooklyn - unionized in 2012

  • Bronx - voted against union in 2012 & 2017

  • Piscataway - voted against union 2017

  • Oakland - unionized just last week

other shops are currently in the process of unionizing.

there's an awakening happening and Altice management will stop at nothing to prevent us from having a voice.
