Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

H1Bs over americans

H1Bs taking american jobs will come to an end. It's gone far too long. Greedy Shell won't be able to cheat americans anymore. This will only work once the millions of H1Bs here, return back to India. Ive waited for over 10 years for this: time to celebrate!

no one blames the illegal immigrants, life of an immigrant/H1B is not that fancy and no one blames the greedy american universities that bring international students and charge them fortune and get their research done at "cheap" price. People should call for shutting down influx of international students too if they want to shut down H1Bs.

H1-B too. I'm glad I got the job. Also get to enjoy America. Plan to get a citizenship too.

I've known IT people that left the industry because the salaries got so low due these H1Bs. That's what happens when corporations run the government

H1Bs are the "Scabs" of the 21st century. The sad fact is the rule change made by the Trump administration (if that is the real subject of the post) will have ZERO impact on Shell's practices.

This is GLOBALISM, from the globalists.

Get used to it, or work American.

Oh, so that would imply that 95% of those laid off from Shell have found jobs. That's great news!!!

I'm a h1b and recently took the duties of a Shell employee that was being laid off. No doubt he was very smart and knew much more than me. My company told me I would be a lot less expensive than "that employee" and to be glad they found me a job.

dear mr h1b,

what do you think people did last November? not only did they write to their congressmen, they got new ones and a president with a mandate to balance the immigration laws in this country. H1B's have a purpose; it is filling jobs that cannot be done by locals. It is not undercutting the wage market, which is what you seem to have benefitted from. The correction is inevitable as citizens realize they are hurting themselves. Most rational people came to this conclusion many years ago, but only now have they been prepared to challenge the political correctness, D&I etc that made them think they were bad people for trying to protect their own family. Indeed, other countries are worse off, but that is hardly our fault and we should not feel guilty for problems in those countries, nor take responsibility for solving them.

I'm a h1b and yes we work for lot less than americans. If you don't like it talk to your congressman to change the laws. In the meantime deal with it

Seen smart people lose their jobs to these clowns over the past 20 years. Fortune 500 managers are now saying "it was all about keeping labor cost down " .Well, we knew that back in the 90s!! Companies broke the law and got away with it.

"Survival of the business" ! Get this, in the past 30 years the salary of CEOs have gone up by 1100%, while only 22% for average workers (CNN). Mr Shell got a 360k bonus on top of his multi million $$ salary, while people have been losing their jobs over the past 3 years

It's not about greed, it's about survival of the business.

I'm not sure H1-Bs are going to stop...the program will get renamed to something else and the foreigners will keep taking U.S. jobs..
