You will never see another VSP @ Dell, Michael was very disappointed in how many people went for it when they offered one a couple years back plus it cost them a bucket load of money that they don't have now. I think the other part of it is if it was offered again everyone would want in so there wouldn't be anyone left to shut the lights off when the ship ultimately sinks.

Happy to have gotten my package while it was still decent, moved on to a a better position and can now stand on solid ground and watch the slow collapse of the Dell empire.

Good luck folk, I apply for VSP in Feb 2013 and was granted in Jun same year, I was really sick of the never ending cost cutting, firing that I was ask to work through every end of the Fisical year to meet the allocated budget. I feel soo sorry for my subordinates where were force being layoff, I volunteered to take up VSP instead out cutting my department headcount.

After leaving the Spiral dying company, I open my own small business and enjoy running it. Today I am traveling with my family around Europe on holiday for a month.

Really happy to be out, I wish I should have leave earlier. Life is so much fulfilling after Dell believes me!

Anyone from Legacy EMC will still get the "EMC package" through September, if/when more layoffs come. Otherwirse, your SOL. Get it while you cna.

The last earning statement did not provide forward earnings which means that they can scale down and fire folks if they do not meet their sales objective.

Consumer PC market is down, however Commercial PC market is somewhat holding up but for how long?

Voluntary Separation Plan (Buying you off to get you to leave). That's not going to happen anymore. Dell is going into slash and burn mode with the decline in PC sales (still 60% of their business), more businesses moving to the cloud, outdated storage (thanks EMC, and MDC and NDC), and overall decline is server sales. Too many years playing in a commodity market caught up with them and buying an outdated storage company for way to much money didn't help. The debt burden will probably collapse the company completely.

Me too, I missed my chance in Dec 2014.

My boss got it around that time and it was very generous compensation package. I am younger than that age so an year after I left the company since I got an offer from unrelated company with 18% higher salary in approx. same location. From what I am gather now it is too late for great retirement packages. BTW, Dell has allocated half a billion for retirement packages which means that tens of thousands from the former EMC will go..

Wait the StartUp and EMC was supposed to be the best thing that could have happened is what they told all the folks? Also you are empowered with Tell Dell Survey to voice your concerns.

I can't complain, free pay check for past 3 years. But changing HDD to SSD and making it as new product across EQL, CML, VMAX, VNX, Unity. Don't some one understand the difference between tiering, peering and what really a flash is. May be customers are dumb but what happened to engineers. I want VSP, I can't do dirty work.

I know the feeling. If they offer a VSP, I would take it and not look back.

Me too, I missed my chance in Dec 2014. I haven't done anything since then along with others in the building. Seen layoffs and it's not pretty. No work, no road map, too much of politics, it's pathetic and I wanna be out.
