I work for vpg, the hardware team is full of managers who have zero technical knowledge. I wonder how Intel can afford them? Why do we feed these puppets? Yes these are puppets of the micro-archs. They take stupid decisions and are distroying VPG.
1: our competition ( nvda/ati )does not hire or retain non-tech status collectors, why should Intel? We are already behind, we cannot afford them.
2: why does vpg not re-start leadership feedback? Are we assuming managers are perfect? Why is all the power flow uni-directional? Do technical engineers have no voice? Are we a management company?
3: VPG is full of insecure a-holes who don't share any knowledge as they fear losing their jobs. Hiring puppet non-technical managers makes it worse as they have no clue abt details and trust the insecure oldies.
4: Hope the new management (Ari) can shake up mid level. Wake up from your slumber. Take anonymous reviews from engineers and act on them. Most good guys feel betrayed by management and will leave. As u know, Apple and Samsung are building their own graphics!
5: look at the retention rate of design team. No smart guy/gal has stuck around. Most long timers are from cheap *state universities.
- Start the change by getting rid of scrum and the people behind it. It exposes non-tech morons who are hogging Intel's money.
