Some of my friends and colleagues located at ADP's Ann Arbor office are being let go on April 21. This was a "timed release" layoff where they were informed a couple of months ago that they would be leaving on April 21. This may have been done in the hope that these employees would get new jobs outside of ADP quickly and leave sooner, thus saving ADP severance package expenses.

I worked for ADP in Ann Arbor for almost 3 decades before getting the boot. I guess I should feel fortunate that I was able to avoid getting laid off much sooner.
The first five years I was there were mostly pleasant, but it started to deteriorate in the mid 1990s. Some years were better than others, but layoffs started to happen every couple of years until last year when they dramatically accelerated.
Bye bye ADP.
The 60 day notice is a requirement as previously stated.
The company was always a hire/layoff place to work. When you hire in expect to be laid off and then replaced.
Now the whole site in AA will be shuttered. Part of their planning was to layoff a percentage of people every year and then replace them, Not possible to retire from the company because they will let you go. Worked there 8 years and no one made it to retirement - they were simply booted out the door, treated like crap Never was a good company
A company gives 60 days notice because they have to file a WARN act when they are closing and doing mass layoffs.
