Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

I've always wondered...

...Why none of the children of D & M Cabela want to have anything to do with the business their parents created. Without getting personal, can anybody shed a little light on this? Why are J and M in such a hurry to kill their brand? Seems a lasting legacy for their heirs would be more appropriate.

Let's be honest. If you had a chance to get out of Sidney with a bunch of money, you'd go in a heartbeat. For a lot of guys it was the opposite, they came here after believing the lies and delusion about a great career. Their wives and kids hate it, but everyone bites their tongue and hopes it will get better. For the Cabela's kids, they got the hell out of here, and who can blame them.

yes their was a post deleted. it was a attack on the Cabalas children my someone who claimed they worked at Cabela's for 25 years. To me it sounded like a bass pro associate or fan trying to upset the Cabela's family or someone involved in the decision making in the future decisions at Cabela's.

Ok...obviously there have been some posts deleted, because this thread makes absolutely no sense now.

Sounds like someone got personal...

to me this is an attempt just to discredit the Cabela family hopefully so ca they become upset with the town of Sidney and maybe the employees at the d c. or Cabela's. They have to beg his company bass pro to take a 5.5 billion dollar company off their hand for a billion or two billion less. A question what difference does it matter today what a entry level did on the floor at the Sidney d c 20 or 30 years ago. Shouldn't the poster be more concerned with what the economic developer at the city is doing or what the directors and managers have their homes up for sale.

Nothing was said about D--k, Mary or Jim. They were/are great people and were wonderful to work for. Sad facts the kids never inherited the parents or uncles talent.

I wasn't laid off retired after receiving my 25 year award. Facts are facts and sometimes the truth hurts.

I AM NOT GOING TO STAND BY AND HAVE THIS NONSENSE POSTED ABOUT THE CABELA FAMILY. I WILL JUST SAY I SPEAK FOR THE MAJOIRTY OF THE TOWN OF SIDNEY NEBRASKA AND THE MAJORITY OF THE EMPLOYEES AT THE SIDNEY DISTRIBUTION. I AM NOT A BASS PRO FAN OR A UPSET EX EMPLOYEE WHO WAS LAID OFF AND POST LIES ABOUT THE CABELA FAMILY. I APOLIZE FOR THE LAST COMMENT . THE MAJORITY OF CABELAS EMPLOYEE AT THE SIDNEY DISTRUIBTION WILL REMEMBER D--k AND MARY CABELA AS TWO PEOPLE WHO WAS THANKFUL AND VERY SINCERE TO THE EMPLOYEES AT THE DISTRIBUTION CENTER.

From what I know or have heard, the kids were all encouraged to go out and do there own thing. Sounds like all of them have all gone on to successful careers.

They are smart to sell the brand now. Before it declines any further. In case you haven't noticed retail is in a really bad way. The number of hunters and fishermen have been dropping steadily for decades. The new generation has little interest in the outdoors. Amazon make sure you have no pricing power.
