Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Closing date

Told there is a "new" closing date for the deal in late June, was also informed that there had to be an announcement of the sale 60 days before such date. Is this due to impending layoffs, or is there a regulatory law stating a company must announce their plan to close? Apparently the HR office at Cableas is aware of the date set in June but are being told nothing more than to have certain projects completed by then. Still no one at corporate is uttering a word as to the fate of remaining employees. If there is any truth to this, shouldn't we know by the end of this month if the company does in fact plan on closing in late June?

I believe what this post is saying is, if there are going to be mass layoffs once the deal goes through ( this is the fear and anticipation of most) there will have to be an announced 60 days prior to that date. Clearly the people left in charge know what the plan is, they are simply not coming forward with the information. One can only guess it is to prevent employees from leaving the company before they are "let go", As a whole, the remaining employees are hoping to have some answers once the deal is secured. The company still needs employees to handle day to day business. Not to mention, chaos would probably ensue after 100 + people find out they aren't going to have a job. It appears Cabelas is holding off to the last minute to announce that they expect to have as far as employee retention.

As of right now BP is only planning on buying us out, nothing has been said about closing any stores or laying off anybody so there doesn't have to be a 60 day notice - now what happens after the sale/merger is anybody's guess but I would think it will take a year at least to get everything and everyone changed over to BP
