DCD was "below the line"
Hock has a proven record of success from a business perspective. I don't think there would be much overlap of existing business units with Toshiba. So the likely casualties would be all of Toshiba's support staff - HR, legal, IT. They would all be layed off the instant the deal went through. But that's probably true for any big company buying Toshiba.
Then why they layoff DCD earlier this year!
Any acquisition is a cost for the buyer which is usually footed by employees thru layoffs.

Hock has earned the benefit of the doubt and seems to know what he is doing.
That deal may not go through.
But what is wrong ? Aim is to be No.1 !!
Employees should be happy about it !!
