I've been where you are. There is a lot of anger and emotion and fear of the unknown. You have the management team asking you to be patient and telling you it'll be okay. You have these union guys you met a month ago telling you that everything you've known about the company is a lie and they are going to lay everyone off. Take a step back, stop listening to both sides, and see what makes sense to you and your family. Do you think any company wants to fire all of its people? Does it make business sense? Can they actually compete in this market if they did the things the union said they would? Has the union really backed up their promises to any of its members? Will Altice be super awesome everyday? Will you make tons of money either way in your current position? Where do you want to be in 5-10 years? Still a tech? What is the best option to get you there? Make your own decision. Don't be a follower. Be your own leader. Remember, your career is not a team sport. At the end of the day it's only you. Good luck all. Stay safe.

From one tech to another I'm voting Yesssssss!!!! Up yours Management!!!!
These are no tactics buddy this is reality!!!
No we don't need it. You're scare tactics aren't working.
21 years or 2 years, we all need representation!!! We are all just numbers to them, ya know this!!!
If you've been here 21 years, your the one that's gonna get canned soon you dummy!!!! For making too much, what a fool, foh
Nope 21 years here I'm married with kids and have a mortgage. I don't agree with ATS but I sure don't agree with the union. Having already worked in the IBEW I know what life is like there and it's not pretty. I've done my research. I even hoped it changed but it hasn't. It's even gotten worse. Good luck. You'll need it.
MEoUNeP-wxk But you agree with the brainwashing Altice/ATS is trying to sell you? You are a fool then. You gotta be a tech with just a couple of years under your belt. You probably don't have much to lose or any real bills (mortgage, kids in college) and don't care if you get laid off cause you can get a job @ Home Depot and make the same pay or just live off your parents.
No I am not PH. I know that's your strategy for every time someone doesn't agree with you but sorry just a tech from Jersey who doesn't agree with the union brainwash campaign. What does the union pay you to post ?
I know you're trying bro but the people here are mostly paid union shills so you won't have much luck. I do agree with you though. At least research all sides. These poor guys have been so badly gaslighted they'll never come around.
No need for all the heat. I'll also just ignore the name calling. I'm just advising that instead of repeating what you've heard from either side you do your own research for yourself. Look at things from all sides. If you ran Altice, what would you really do? If you ran the union, what would be your real motivation. At the end of the day your choice will only affect you. Not Altice and not the union. I have been in your shoes. I know it's hard. Just don't get caught up in all the hype. Good luck.
Advice from a tech
You are definately NOT a tech. You're more an HR management troll like a 10 box and modem install with 1 drop.
You state in your post.
"You have the management team asking you to be patient and telling you it'll be okay. You have these union guys you met a month ago telling you that everything you've known about the company is a lie and they are going to lay everyone off.
The Union has never told us any lies. They told us exactly the truth, everything that we have read in the papers, listened to and seen for ourselves. It's entirely the company heads, they are the ones that has decimated companies and its employees all the way from Europe to now here in the USA. Drahi drastic cost cuttings, synergies, plus closings and lay offs, Bit by b--chipping away at all the reasonable paying jobs for less income paying contractor work. Management asking you to be patient and telling you it'll be ok. We were told no changes for 1 year, no closings, no layoffs
Now who is the Lier? Beetch
If you've been where we are you'd be leading the charge for a union.

Your nuts dude. You can't find ONE thing positive about Altice or it's Owner.
So what follow Ats or Join a Union, at least with a union you have the ability to negotiate your terms of employment plain and simple. The problem is greed! It would it be great if the company puts everything on the table and says this is what I make this is what I want and this is what you get and will be getting and your Employment is safe and adjust your pricing to make that come true.
But it's not happening it's greed so let's sit in a room and hammer the deal out. So stop trying to separate us, strength in numbers one man will not make a difference. Greed is real company is and still is profitable even with their debt load check Wall Street.
@snw, Dolan convinced you that you didn't need a union (I think you did, even back then) and this helped him sell the company for 17 billion dollars. And this new bunch makes Dolan look like a saint in
comparison.
Altice has lied to me since they have taken over, taken away time and holidays, bonus, out dated and unsafe PPE and I can't even get a god damn 2 way splitter in my tackle box. I can go on. I suggest you do yourself a little research and check to see what this wonderful new owner has done in ALL!! Companies he's acquired. It's call the Drahi method. If you think you have 10-15 years here your delusional. With Cablevision I never felt I needed a union or was ever worried about my job. Now I know I need one. I'm voting Yes!!!!
