Thread regarding Wal-Mart Stores Inc. layoffs

More Layoffs coming at Walmart and Sams Club

The layoffs are coming in multiple phases. The next phase will include more office positions being laid off, personnel managers, receiving associates, etc... if you sit at a desk, high chance your job gets eliminated, front end salaried managers at will be taking over a lot of the personnel duties at sams, academy managers will be taking over lots of the task at walmart. All salaried managers will all be getting more task added to their routines from hourly jobs being eliminated. Store managers will get assigned multiple task that are currently market manager task, as more cuts will also be made at the market and regional level. It is still being decided how many salaried managers including co managers, APMS and Assistant managers will be cut. Good luck to you all!

We only have 2 in receiving during the day. Do you believe it will be the receiving lead or the receiving clerk that gets cut.

All my friends just got laid off yesterday and it breaks my heart.

of course there is no known timeline..they dont want people quitting or changing positions before the company is ready to do their hacking...the associates who have the jobs that they are eliminating are long term associates..talking 15-25 years since sams club started..probably upwards of $20 per hour...hmmm lets see...$10.00 or $20..which will they choose to pay..its the 15+ year associates who have made this company what it is..not the people who think they are smarter than everyone else..its the ones that help them get their $5million a year

with all the changes, there are no controls...who receives the freight.? who sends the freight? who fixes the shipping and receiving errors? who stops the theft, both internal and external?

remember sears? woolworths? hills? mcsports? kmart? and numerous othes!!!

mark my word, this is the beginning of the end ladies and gents...

I agree any office position is in jeopardy. I feel like the outside membership sales teams will be eliminated as the focus has been on digital marketing. If I were in accounting, personnel, membership or receiving, I would start formulating a backup plan. Those jobs are in real danger of being eliminated. The future looks like the managers will be taking on more and more tasks to offset the associate losses.

In information systems, where I primarily visit, there were many Walmart employees cut today, 04/04/2017. A Walmart employee (aka associate in Walmart speak) told me the layoffs will continue into next week. He also said the lower cost H1B contractors are being retained and that the layoffs appear to target longer term employees and avoid H1B hires and new hires.
