The good news is I am getting interviews in 2017

The bad news is for the full time jobs that I have had either phone screenings or face to face the companies worlds end because I could not find a contract job or any employment in 2016.

For the phone screens on contract jobs there are new excuses for each one.

So far the reasons are someone with more experience than you or you interview well but you did not have the private equity experience.

But I look at it this way:

The residence is paid in full (just insurance and taxes)

I have transportation.

I have healthcare through an early retiree program.

Bills are being paid.

And I have good health

Yes it s---s tapping into 401 k money to live.

But it is not the pension nor the 401 k of SS.

I was there close to 30 years so I was able to build up a nest egg.

No wife or kids (stayed single)

So @ 57 if I need to retire @ 62 if I cannot find work then so be it!

Paraphrasing President Trump's comments about Senator McCain--i prefer workers that keep their jobs to those that lose them during downsizings. SS is about winners!

I was once making a good salary at SST until I was let go to make room for replacement workers.

It took me 3 years of working various temp jobs until I found a full time job making 35% less .

But as some one over 47 I am grateful just to have a job.

Good luck to all of you ! I am a former long-time employee of State Street and never found another decent paying job. Unfortunately, I am also a single women who doesn't have anyone else to depend on. At least, I am not divorced or have children who are depending on me. These massive layoffs should never be allowed to happen.

I'm more afraid of being able to find a job quickly after it happens.

This is life altering when you get laid off.

Don't kid yourself no good will come of it unless you have an advanced degree or very well connected you will flounder.

This will be painful for the vast majority of people.

Anyone that has a wise crack comment either isn't employed at STT or has already lost their job and is still suffering.

Doesn't matter what stage in life you're at, the number of jay offs is so huge for one industry in one state (mostly) it will be very hard to find comparable employment and will take a toll on the economy.

...---...

We're all going down with this ship and it's going to really s*ck.

I wish you all well, I hope we recover from this.

I think we will notice mass layoffs but please be honest here, when, if you see it post it .

Any date with 7000 layoffs looming is stressful and distressing.

Would be nice if the top brass could advise in an orderly fashion how these massive layoffs will play out, but I don't think that will occur.

I will say the rumors, dates, code names etc do nothing to help and it's rather cruel to post things like that.

A stressful day indeed.

Pick a day any day, with layoffs looming for 7000 co-workers everyday, any date you throw out there is distressing.
