Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Newark... YOU'RE NOT ALONE. YOU'RE NOT ON YOUR OWN. You're NOT going to be left "hung to dry."

You guys are gonna hear all kinds of negative stuff coming your way. How you're not going to be a part of the "big picture." How having a union will not do a thing for you. How having a union will not gain anything. Altice management will bring up Time Warner (Spectrum) and Comcast. How are their unions working out for the guys there?

Interesting thought.

But.......... THEY'RE STILL THERE !!!!

Were those unions demolished? Were they crushed? Did they disappear? Did those union members voted to "decertify" their unions? Did their unions abandon them?

NO !!!!

They did not! Both parties had their option to do so, if indeed, it was a losing cause.

But they're STILL THERE.

Alive and active as ever.

All fights are NEVER easy. It's give and take all the time. Your opponent jabs you with a left. You counter with your right. And when both sides decide enough is enough, a compromise or a "cease firing" comes into play.

It is NOT an automatic win for Altice. Nor is it an automatic win for your union. The MAIN difference is that YOU, an employee, is not in the fight..... alone. YOU are but one of a soon-to-be large union workforce, who have decided that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

Imagine an NFL game being played where your team only has 11 guys to play the whole game. Your opponent (Altice) has a full squad. Offense, defense, kicking team... the whole squad. Your 11 guys will get killed.

But if YOU can get your full squad (Field service, OSP, Construction, RCC) together, you'll be on an even playing field. That's why Cablevision needs to band together. All you guys know what is happening. It is okay to remain silent, but your voice in voting will be loud. And when voting time arrives, NO ONE from Altice can possibly know how YOU voted. It is a voting process with the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board) present to witness the process. There will be no games played here.

Sooner or later, ATS will abandon you. When that time comes, you'll have been earning too much in salary. And that shouldn't surprise you. After all... you are an AT-WILL employee.

I find it ironic and hypocritical how it's acceptable for a chosen few to earn millions in compensation, and how completely moronic it is for YOU to earn a few dollars more.

So to all the Newark guys.... and let me make this clear.... You are Bad Azzes!

You're mad as hell!

And YOU'RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!

You-nionize!

But they were told they aren't going to be alone and left out. Trust us they say, we have your best interest. I'm selling the Brooklyn bridge for $2 if anyone interested. Your going to be alone and led right out the door and they're not even going to blink.

They claim new company new rules those who signed up for ats! Are in for a rude awakening. Cant wait to see the look on their faces when they realize they are the contractors. They lowered the goals so they can start letting people go they know its impossible to do six installs in eight hours this is just the begining of the nightmare.

Obe you are quite misinformed. Nobody took away 10% to go to ATS. It was a volunteer thing. I don't know of 1 person who even took that deal.

Good luck. I'm sure your job at AlticeUSA is gonna be real secure, for a couple of years. Then will come the announcement per the warn act, and you will be gone. Replaced by ATS. It's inevitable. But please, vote yes, better job security for ats

This is precisely one of the vast number of reasons why you need to be unionized.

You always heard corporate telling you

"You will be left alone and you will be left out, you will be left behind."

This is exactly what puts fear and intimidates you the employees. Who is doing the changes and reducing fellow employees, your benefits in your company. They are. The companies corporate and managerial minions. They are the ones telling you, that when you come together to speak with one voice having a union, you will be left out, left alone and left behind. They tell you if you dont go to ATS, you will not get trained on the new Ftth network, You will not this, You will not that. They tell you, You should trust us, we know what's best for you. We rather you have an open relationship with us.

Wake up people. Wake up. It's not the union who are doing this to you and your employment. IT'S YOUR COMPANY'S corporate minions doing this to you. They do this in their psychological meetings. Shifting, Twisting and blaming the union for what they would and intend to do to you if you get yourselves union representation.

When they tell you these things. Just ask them? is it the union thats going to leave us stagnated or is it you the company that will be doing this to us.

Having a union makes everyone inclusive and treated fairly. Its not not not the union that is doing these things affecting your employment. It's the company itself. REALIZE who is truly threatening you and your future employment. IT'S NOT THE UNION.

Vote in Vote yes for the union. REPRESENT YOURSELVES.

Don't believe the rhetoric that you be alone or left out. These management thugs are just trying to scare you. I was a big no when it came to the vote, thankfully the Yes's won!! You will see corprate and managements true colors after the vote. Remember one thing, if anyone is going to be alone and left out is them. They will gone before any of us. Way gone!!! After the 13th you will not be the last shop to say Yes. All will fall in line and they know it, that is why they are scared.

There's 115 guys eligible in the Newark election. And there will be some who "say" they are happy. It's status quo.

To those in Newark who opted to join ATS.... DID YOU FORGET 10% OF YOUR SALARY WAS TAKEN AWAY?

YOU gave up 10% to join the "ATS union." An "at-will" employee for the ATS union.

You're kidding? Right? We're NOT even talking algebra !!!

As opposed to 1.2% from a REAL union?

You're kidding? Right?

If you're serious, then I only have two words for you.......

DRUG TEST !

Great advice Obeeone. I know that anything that corporate or management tell us. It's threats fears and lies. We have the majority voting yes for the union. Nothing they say will make a difference. Just because they give us a pay check. We earned it. We are not company zombies. We are dedicated workers being taken disadvantage of by them. They have taken away a lot from us and now it stops. We are voting yes. It's our right and choice to have our own union to represent, negotiate and to speak on behalf of all of us. Vote in the Union now. When do we want the union, now. when do we stand up for ourselves, now. Vote yes now.
