Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Be On The Alert for anyone who enters this site filled with hate.

It's sad when the wrong people develop an infatuation for you. Why couldn't it be Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez or maybe, Rihanna.

Instead, technicians have to hear it from a guy (I think) who calls himself FAUST. He has had a few things to say on this site. All humorous and nonessential.

As technician concerns are the main topic on this site ... for some stupid reason, I've become HIS infatuation, his short-lived passion. His target. And just to let you know, Mr. Corporate, I couldn't give a rat's a-- if that is your choosing. Doesn't phase me at all. But I hope to God the other technicians who depend on this website for important information, can see through your translucent, hateful, description of the evils of joining a union. Were you one of the "rats" or "trolls" the guys here have been speaking about? Hmmm.....

I have said in the past that people adapt or change, according to the time. We all change. You should know that. When you were young, you use to s--- your thumb. Do you continue to do so? I don't think so. Voila! You've changed!

You don't seem to get it, FAUST. I can't figure out what you're even on this website. After all, you sound happy with yourself and your decision. You're getting a raise, or so you say. And it sounds like you're moving up in the world. Good for you and I wish you luck. So, why..... why..... why.... are you wasting your time on this site? YOUR PROBLEM IS CLEARLY SOLVED. Or, so you say. Are you in management?

But there are other technicians who are still up in the air, uncertain. But if YOU were an atheist, YOU would be the type to enter a church and yell "You're All Crazy!". Well, then why did you go in there in the first place? Were they bothering you?

Instead, you offer negativity with "zero" room for hope. Jesus---- we're all glad you're not a doctor!!! "Lady, get off the bed. You're gonna die soon anyway, so make room for the next guy."

Your attitude isn't needed here. Your people skills really s--k. Oooppsss... forgive me. I sank to your level. My bad. I didn't sound hopeful.

I hope technicians choose what is best for themselves. To select the best option they have... whatever that is. Since I've been here, I've tried to lay out as much as I can. As long as they realize the three options available: 1) Quit 2) Join Altice or 3) Join the union.

1) Quit. A finality. You've answered all questions and I wish you luck in your new endeavors.

2) Join Altice. Not being there I can't be positive or negative on this decision. This option can only be supported by what used to be, what it is now and what it can POSSIBLY be. The last part is an unknown.

3) Join a union. As I have stated before.... you guys will have to decide.

But, to all other unsure technicians.... STAY AWAY from those who will constantly tell you "you're going to hell." Those same people will also tell you, "The weather is fine down here."

So, FAUST, forget me and concentrate on your fellow technicians.... if you care. Be informative and well-versed. Perhaps they'll respect you. Both sides have good and bad in them. I say take the lesser of 2 evils. Whichever that is. And that is the technician's choice. But don't offer them a sure thing "pie in the sky" sign-up with Altice routine. You're giving yourself away.

You're secure in your position. You have much to gain.... while the others have everything to lose. You've made it clear that your "inspirational writings" are badly needed here.

So, FAUST... forget me and stay focused if you can to help these guys out. Instead of concentrating on "who I am." I'll tell you what.... what if I told you I was Jim Dolan.... would it matter? Stephen Hawkins... would it matter? How's this.... Bruce Springsteen? Or, better yet, Keanu Reeves, and I'm here to tell you you're living in a matrix. How's that, Kemosabee. Would that have changed facts and data. Unless you believe in the Mandela effect.

For the serious tech.... if there's anything you don't understand, post it on this site. I guarantee you will get an informative pro and con response. There are many guys here who care, who have REALLY done their homework... and they'll share it with you. After all..... YOU ARE ANONYMOUS!

i know obeeone and he does not work for Ibew. My moniker has been Luke and Cablevisionary . I have posted many times on this site. i am grateful that he's doing this he has always helped me when we were

techs in the field something that you don't know, and would never understand, working in the heat in the cold in the rain, the down drops on Baychester ave with no bucket trucks of course so give me a break and stop trying to minimize him you are irrelevant and never worked an honest day in your life, and to my fellow technicians in all the depots deuces, peace out you corporate troll.

I think the guy below is right. I've been following all these posts. Obeeone, you definitely work for the union. No one is sooo invested in helping former workers like you say you are. Why don't you just admit that you're an organizer. Is it a bad thing? Or do you think pretending to be a 'concerned citizen' makes your message sound more believable?

For the record, obeeone is in the employment of IBEW. Many of the supporting posts are either also him or other IBEW organizers. It creates the appears of a broad support for the union when there is none.

Um.....those things you wrote down still didn't answer those questions from Faust...just saying.

Anyone can google that stuff. We all know that drahi is in a lot of debt buying this company. We also know he has to make cuts to stay in the green.

So like Faust asked how will union prevent further cuts from a company in immense debt. They can already show the need to do so. Especially if they need to reach the promise of delivering fiber within five years.

Also in the event of layoffs how will the rookies fair if seniority is first?

I agree valid questions. But no solid answers. Let's put a leash on all disrespect, and conspiracy theories.

Union is here. The question is what's it going to take really to hold on to what's left. Because as far as I can tell and what history has shown. Situations like this get a whole lot uglier before they get better.

  • Altice announces $900 million in synergies (35% of which is Network Operations)

  • shutdown Freewheel service

  • shutdown Suddenlink call center in Greenville NC

  • shutdown Optimum call center in Shelton CT

  • shutdown warehouses in Peekskill & Stamford

  • Logistics Dept eliminated

  • outsourcing of Security Dept.

  • News12 CT employees laid off

  • Fleet dept eliminated

  • Facilities dept. eliminated

  • 3 sick days taken away

  • increased health benefits cost

  • holiday bonus eliminated

  • Voluntary Retirement Package (initially offered to technicians only)

Patrick Drahi - is the sole and unchallengeable decider within Altice and his position is unassailable within its corporate structure. Some of the same (his) key lieutenants that implemented Altice's anti-employee, anti-customer, anti-contractor tactics abroad under his instructions are in charge of Altice USA.

Here's one more important fact that you might find interesting...

The person heading up Altice Technical Services is Barry Monopoli. The same Barry that has been notorious for union-busting. This is a known fact amongst any technician that has ever had to deal with his pathetic a$$. No need to take anyone's word about this, but you may wanna acknowledge the word of an Administrative Law Judge. Since 2012, Cablevision has been the subject of numerous labor complaints (many of which Monopoli is specifically implicated). Take a read of these NLRB court cases (links below) and come to your own conclusions, and in the end, please ask yourself this question: "why would I continue to have trust in a company that repeatedly violates the rights of its employees?"

Since the term is being used loosely these days, I'll say that your biased attitude towards fat chicks, especially 300-pounders, leaves little to be desired. Too bad you didn't say "black fat chick", which would force me to call the BLM on ya.

Save the technicians from your rhetoric. Trying to embellish the present virtues of Altice, while telling everyone else that they're full of it. You easily forgot that NOT EVERONE has your lifestyle, your debt, your circumstances, your condition of living, your children (if any), or wife (if any). You forget their needs are different from yours. No doubt you're the perfect example of a particular quality called intelligence, and everyone else is just flat-out dumb.

We all know this..... and we humbly apologize to you. These technicians tried but just couldn't reach YOUR level of reasoning. I hear ya. Perhaps they are better off allowing YOU to be their spokesman. After all... only you know what's best for them. Because what's good for you MUST be good for them.

You try to make it seem that you and corporate are gods here., and Obeeone is the devil, interfering in your garden of employees. Why is it bothering you so much about him, imparting knowledge and understanding amongst us. Is it, to be educated has become a crime? Don't take the God route and act like you care that much. I call you out for being full of it and suspect. You pride yourself on facts but neglect to speak on the truth about just how little power the union really has. But it's ok I'll get off your neck for awhile. These techs will see for themselves just like Brooklyn did.
