Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Here's a link for 3 Union Contracts. All Comcast. All IBEW. YOU DECIDE.

This is the time for you guys and gals to tell your significant other to stop messing with your ear and to tell the kids to leave you alone for a while. If it is that important, you'll take the time to read them. These are all cable related. Negotiated with a company that is known for being one of the toughest in the country dealing with unions. That is fact.

I won't say that Altice will tougher nor easier. No idea. To each his own. But my "gut" feeling is they're new to this country. And for them to have this "hassle" with employees now, should be at the bottom of their priority list. I mean, it's like moving into a new neighborhood. Do you really want start any trouble? You just got there. But I may be wrong.

Especially at a time when you need to borrow more money for more acquisitions? Again... a gut feeling.

You got Fairfield, Tom's River and Pleasantville NJ contracts. They're at the bottom of the page.

Either way, here's the link. YOU DECIDE.

I am a tech and I can tell you the dispute between techs & Altice was NOT created by the union but actually created by Altice & it all started by taking away our sick days, holiday & bonuses without any communication. Not everyone took that same lose, actually some techs gained 2 days & the statement that they wanted to balance it out throughout the company is also a lie. Suddenlink employees didn't gain any sick days. If youre not a tech or management then you shouldn't comment on what you really don't know. Stay in your lane & research before commenting

Techs are taking inside jobs because the union has put the fear into techs that they're losing their jobs. The union is spreading BS and ruining guy's careers.

OH LORD, GIVE ME STRENGTH!

you trolls are becoming more & more pathetic.

Just to clarify, about my comments earlier, I said that offer sheets were going out. I know this because I have a friend who works out in Suffolk and said ATS offers started last week. And I don't know more than your managers as the details and metrics were just finalized. When they say they didn't have an answer it's because they didnt. My apologies for any confusion. Good luck to all.

To the guy below, exactly!! Techs are taking inside jobs because the union has put the fear into techs that they're losing their jobs. The union is spreading BS and ruining guy's careers. They're gonna find out in a few months that they gave up a job they liked for reason. And yeah, if you're over qualified go out and find a better job. The economy has picked up and that's now an option. The company doesn't owe you anything. If they don't offer competitive wages they won't last. You don't have to stay and why fight? If you think you deserve to be treated better go somewhere that will treat you that way. You can't force a company to do that.

To the last person who posted. I have a question for you. Why should a person who is being mistreated by their employer always has to be the one to fold/leave? The reason that unions were enforced for so long was because of that mentality. I understand that the employer is only responsible for paying you for doing your job and that perks and benefits are at their discretion but then why should I have to have this mantra of going above and beyond when I just have to do my job. I'm not owed nothing by my employer and their not owed anything from me beyond me doing my job. And in your response to techs not being worried then why are multiple techs leaving the field and coming to customer service/tsg I speak with these former techs on a daily basis and the main reason that they left the field was because they were worried for their job. I refuse to go above and beyond anymore when my employer doesn't value my service. To sum it all up is that people need to know their worth in a company and not just take the scraps that's handed to them. If everyone had that mind set then we would be still working 60hr work weeks with no breaks or sick time. There is such a thing called progression. As a company evolves and they want to keep the best employees then they need to compete with their competitors. We just had a lot of tsg reps quit because they have degrees and certifications and realize that what they were offered for the work they were doing is not equal to what they value themselves and got jobs elsewhere. Our director is wondering why so many of the new hires are quitting after only a few months. The answer is simple, they know what they're worth and the NY area is in no shortage of IT jobs.

Hey buddy

What location depot and department are you from. You sure do know a lot of what Altice got planned for us and you're from a different department knowing more than our immediate managers and supervisors about another offer sheet though. Don't use us Oakland organising. We can't stop them from offering more packages. Techs been posting, asking if there were going to be more packages offered and yet you never responded to them and you knew this was going to be offered again weeks ago. Your a joke, you corperate rat bastard clown. You are corporate management. You continue to try to fool us as fools. Your fooleryis fooling you, you clown.

2nd Obeeone told you the truth. He's explain who he is many many times and he is 100% an ex employee. He has said it over and over. The IBEW is in the same boat as you are, you clown,. They can tell you themselves they don't have absolutely no idea nor clue who he actually is. He currently works with the USS Entreprise.

A few weeks ago this site was a place for all employees from Altice to express their concerns and share information. Why is it that the IBEW feels that it's an appropriate place to organize the techs. I'm not a tech and I'm not management. I work in a totally different department. I've seen many friends leave this company. Real concerns. The dispute between techs and Altice is being made up by the union. I can tell you from actual knowledge there is no talk of letting techs go. The idea that jobs will disappear in a few years is ludicrous. Trust me, it's standard union organizing tactics. A union has never formed without the created fear of losing job/benefits. Yes, holiday/sick time was lost, but it was lost by everyone. Myself and my department too. It s---s, but it's how Altice decided to unify the two company's benefits. If that's a deal breaker then look for new employment. The union isn't getting it back for you.

I believe offer sheets are going out this week. (FYI, they we scheduled to go out now. I believe they announced this a few weeks ago. They're not doing it because they're scared of the union. )

My advice to my fellow employees is take a look at what's offered, figure out if it will work for you and your family, and if it doesn't start looking around for a better job.

I ask that the union reps please not start calling me names, I'm looking at you obeeone. I'm not posting again. I just wish the rest of us in the company had this resource again. To the techs, good luck in whatever you decide to do. As I've told my own children, don't take what a business does personally. Look at things as if you owned the business. What would you really do?

Thank you Kanobee. The more we know the more we see that we have been taken disadvantage of by Altice and we need to be respected. Every other service workers has a union to assist with negotiations for the benefits of the employees. Why should we not have our own. Thanks kanobee

Hey Kanobee... I agree 100$. Odds are they won't read any of them anyway. It's a Twitter generation. Short, abbreviated words have replaced conversation. Ya can't force a horse to drink. But I can offer the water.

Most of these guys seem sincere. And there are some who are just downright selfish and thoughtless. One has to hope that the majority of them are taking their situation seriously.

Because it is serious.

On top of all that, Corporate is going nuts trying to figure out who I am. I'm as important as a toenail. But it does prove how important Altice technicians are to them.

Sad.

Pathetic.

So continue holding the flag.

I don't think reading a Comcast contract is gonna make any difference to some of these techs. The problem is that most guys that actually read it are gonna be expecting special bells & whistles (e.g. 25% raises, traditional pensions, etc) --- this typically DOES NOT happen in a first contract.

We have to let go of this "what can the union do for me" or "this contract sux" attitude.

It's more important to illustrate the point that you now have a voice and moving forward you can build upon this voice.

The common denominator between any Collective Bargaining Agreement is that the terms & conditions of one's employment is locked in for the duration of the agreement. This should be the focus.

  • MTA

  • School Bus Drivers

  • Truck Drivers

  • Teachers

  • Musicians

  • Police Dept

  • Fire Dept

  • Sanitation Dept

  • Nurses

  • Stop&Shop workers

  • Car wash workers

  • NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL

  • Airline pilots / Flight Attendants

  • Elevator Constructors

  • Taxi workers

  • Actors/Actresses

  • Plumbers

  • Roofers & Waterproofers

  • Comcast

  • Charter

  • Cox

All these workers are represented by unions. Why the bleep can't we be unionized too? We need to stop this divisive attacks against each other and unite. Stop trusting management. They do not have your best interests. It's already proven.
