Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Raise and a bonus!

LOL, no, not with HPE. I left HPE and started a new job a short while ago. This was based on 3 months.

Come on, guys, have some self-respect and shed Meg and her minions. Waiting for a WFR sounds like a plan... a bad one. COBRA will eat most of that money and the blank spot on your resume will put off most potential employers. Meg gets the last laugh. Get out there and look now... you'll find a job with better pay and a better culture.

At Anonymous@M7DXRWg-1djb - Are you part of the Board of Directors at HPE or maybe part of the Boy's club at HPE or something?? Your bias towards the board of directors and the CEO of HPE is so blatantly palpable, it is not funny. You are the one who should get a life and stop hiding under the skirt of the the Board of Directors or Meg and defend them to the hilts, unless of course you have an interest in doing so or she is your mother. These CEOs only think about their own pockets and how much they can make out of the company. They come onboard, destroy the company, get the golden handshake and then move on to the next to do the same. They ask for individuals to take pay cuts of 5%, whilst they themselves only take pay cuts of 0.7% of their 40Million salary +bonus. Whether the company makes a profit or a loss, they get their Million dollar bonuses at the end of the year. They are multi-billionaires, money that they have made at the expense of the hard working individuals, and are never content of their billions, and want more. It is greed to the Nth degree. The LOVE of money is the root of ALL EVIL. In the end however, we all end up rotting in the SAME PLACE and money is insignificant and totally irrelevant.

"But why do that when we can just sign in for 20 or so hours a week, do absolutely nothing, and still get paid with benefits?"

Wow, I don't know!!! ... Actually, I do know that this kind of thing does go on... Know of it 2nd-hand, sometimes 1st-hand in the past... HPE lays off the old geezers (who worked hard and worked their hours and then some), and this is sometimes what HPE gets, with their young new hires... SOMETIMES...

This kind of work ethic will bite you in the behind sooner or later, though. I was there once (partways at least) as a youngster. Grew out of it, fortunately...

The good (or hardworking) get punished and the bad (or lazy) get rewarded sometimes, yes. It will come out in the wash, though, sooner or later...

@M7DXRWg-1djb - I'm not bitter... or hanging on, but I do still have a lot of friends who are "hanging in there" thinking they are insulated from the buffoonery of the executives running HPE (and soon DXC). Some of them have learned the hard way since I left. A friend of mine who is a manager there had to let go of a bunch of his people just before Christmas. Everybody I know that took the WFR had a harder time of it due to the COBRA penalty and desperation mode job searching that followed.

After I left, however, a few of my friends DID make the right decision, and every one of them landed in better places. I posted to let you know that there is a future, but fortune favors the bold. Meekly hanging in there will only put you in a hole when the "boom" comes.

"Looking for another job outside the Company is not even optional for HPE employees."

That I don't get. I've probably set some sort of record in getting WFR'd since I've done it 3 times already. Made the mistake of working in areas that "are critical to the future of the company". After the 2nd time I decided to take advantage of all the learning opportunities there are at HPE and now, in my 60s, I'm in the position of having to decide between two really interesting job offers so far. Anyone at HPE who is not making the maximum use of the opportunities that present themselves to prepare for life after, well .... quit whining and move on.

Meg, Meg, Meg... She obviously hurt you in the most painful and unimaginable way possible huh OP...(?) Pain so unpleasant, that you have to come back to this site to express your bitterness and gloat about your fabulous "raise and a bonus!", at the same time. EVEN after you left "a short while ago", technically you never left the company, completely. Mentally, you are still employed by "Meg" because you are on this site posting about your "three months" achievements at your new job with Meg in mind. It's amazing how some people stay clinged on, while others are able to simply move on.

Now, I'm not a completely heartless individual so I will say this, and congratulate you on the ending of this so called post. You did show some positive qualities in regards to the situation that others may be in and somewhat positive advice on how to prepare for that departure when it arises.

Originally, this was going to be a simple reply with three words 'get a life', but then I glanced at your post again, shook my head, cracked my knuckles, and went to work. Seriously tho, get a life and move on. Don't waste your energy on this nonsense. I will take my own words as advice, and be on my way as well.

Not enough You'll always be driving when doing an exceptional job and get laid off anyway. Don't overthink it. If you still work there then take your time and find a great job with great benefits and a good future and not chaos and little reward.

Looking for another job outside the Company is not even optional for HPE employees. It should be part of our position plans and be an objective in our performance evaluations... Yes... It is that bad...
