Thread regarding DeVry Inc. layoffs

I have a key piece of advice for those (students, employees, investors) who know the dirt on Ross and it's owner, DeVry: Share your general observations about this fraudulent organization but keep "details" to yourself, as the inner workings of this scam need to be communicated only through your attorney, and only to a trusted member of Congress. Ross and DeVry attorneys are watching these websites and doing everything they can to discredit the whistleblowers, so do not show them your legal arguments in these forums. Ross employs shills who troll the forums and praise the school, spreading deceptions and flagging the free speech of whistleblowers. Ross students should NEVER communicate their legally significant complaints to the Ross Ombudsman, as Ross uses this position to protect Ross' financial scam. Ross has a big track record of using multiple strategies to prevent the students, the public, the stockholders from learning about the inner workings of the school. 90% of complaints, which could, if properly brought as a lawsuit, be successful in court, are derailed by deceiving the student, getting rid of the student, or buying off ($$$ if necessary) the student.

ALL of the financial wealth which was accumulated by Ross and DeVry has come from the giant nucleus of Federal and private loans which students took on. Ross had already perfected its scam of loan fraud long before DeVry bought them, though DeVry helped expand the operation, knowingly and with all the hallmarks of what needs to be investigated by the FBI per racketeering, wire fraud, etc. Bear in mind that Ross paints a TOTALLY different picture, using rigged statistics, to the government agencies, the stockholders and the students, than actually exists. Fewer than half of Ross students will ever get a license to practice. The overwhelming majority of this half which has been "used" by Ross will end up with permanent financial ruin, with no credit, and with mental and physical health problems, and tragically, these same students would have become the best doctors had only the government scrutinized Ross' super sized scam when it was already gigantic, over a decade ago.

The entire northeast locked down with a large snowstorm and we are asked to work from home. August cannot come fast enough. Ross has lost its way.

Remember when it was all about paralegal & criminal Justice--how something like that was going to really bring in hordes of new students? Campus expansions and everyone bringing in fat money. Just get everyone on the bandwagon...but the wagon completely broke down about a mile down the road.

Why did they move the Med Schools out from DMI? Are the DMI colleagues losing their jobs?

I work for devry online and we asked upper management if there is anything wrong with the medical schools at DVG. They said the schools used to be under one "umbrella" but are now all separate but that was it .

......are you hourly? If so, volunteer to work extra to "turn things around" soak up all the overtime like a dry sponge & laugh your way to the bank. If salaried, leave early for a round of golf or shopping.

Do you ever visit the campus? Sounds like another good freebie trip, while you can get one in.

Not sure exactly what is going on but there seems to be panic setting in among RUSM. Recent Information Seminars have yielded very low interest and attendance. On top of this, new student projections for the May Class are at an all time low with the Fall Class looking trending in the same direction. You can see and feel the tension of the management team as the regression of results has accelerated since they have all returned.

Now that I know I will not be a part of the future it is fun to sit back and watch this entire mess unravel. Be careful what you ask for DeVry, you have moved Ross Admissions and Marketing under a crazy man.

As a long time a Ross employee I can honestly say this has been a terrible place to work. Good leaders with real ideas are continuously forced out the door while former leaders who initiated the demise are brought back to save the day? Their strategy consists of turning back the clock to 2009 when Ross was basically the only game in town outside of the U.S. to become an MD.

I am so happy to be out of here in a few months. Those that are still here stay because of the severance and bonus that is being offered for those that ride this into the ground come August. I will have no problem letting everyone know what a lying, cheating, dishonest place this is.

Devry has been in the process of shutting down for some time and gradually phasing out. Once management is used to do the dirty work they are axed. False hope to hang on led to some very bad moral decisions. But this company has long been known for the ability for desensitizing employees. So many families have been turned upside down and until it impacts one directly they fail to see or really care it's all about me attitude. But what goes around comes all the way back around.

Well, how do they address this? What things do they want you to do while you are still there--pack everything up for the move? Will they pay to relocate you & your household?

I am a colleague in what used to be the NJ DMI office. The atmosphere here is toxic. Everyone is either looking for a job or using up their personal time before we are all let go in August.

Our managers continue to push us to perform but they can't be serious! Why would we want to help this company that has lied to us and now leaving many of us with no jobs, no salary and benefits.

I can't believe that this is really happening.

The stock buybacks will continue as the greedy and incompetent managers enrich themselves while lying to the shareholders and employees. Watch the stock transactions and who is selling shares. The DeVry managers are getting the last value out of the corporation before it goes bankrupt or disappears. The managers have no intention of keeping the schools going, they are going to extract whatever they can using stock-based compensation and then crash the company. The managers are aware that they don't know how to run the business so they are getting what they can before it dissolves.

Basically students are graduating making around 75K as veterinarians against a cost of attendance over $250,000...HA HA HO HO HO THAT is truly funny--don't students know how much it will cost? They have to be told the program cost by fed law & they still go ahead??

Ross Medical School is really struggling. They have not made new student numbers for close to two years and new leadership that has come on board has results going the opposite direction. Enrollment projections for the foreseeable future looks bleak.

Results for the Ross Veterinary School are still holding their own but may be in trouble with gainful employment. Basically students are graduating making around 75K as veterinarians against a cost of attendance over $250,000!

AUC is doing well. Reasons being, better leadership than Ross and a more desirable island in terms of living and traveling to and from.

So are they actually closing Ross Vet and Medical? Or are they moving people

I am one of the colleagues that is negatively impacted by this decision. What makes this hurt is that we were told and continually reassured that we would never be moved to the Florida office. We all feel lied too and betrayed. Over the last few months the rumor of this happening continued to grow, we have watched our office slowly be dismantled and our office leaders let go or reassigned. As this is happening Ross brings back leadership from yesteryear that have done nothing but accelerate our demise. Foolish decision after foolish decision.

Personally, I have a couple of options so I don't fall out of work, however, all my friends and coworkers are not as fortunate.

Jobs are hard to find. Plus some groups actually enjoy the work they do and the people they work with. Don't be a jerk.

It is unbelievable that you have watched and probably participated in layoffs over the last few years and can be this stupid. AGAIN, to all of you that watch this forum, DeVry is in the process of shutting down and management has been blowing smoke up your you know what and you have been drinking the kool aid.

Yes it is true. We received official notice yesterday that our office is being dissolved. Many of us were given an option to move to Florida or we will be out of a job come August. None of us can move to Florida so we are all out after many years of service with Ross. Others have to move back to the New Jersey DeVry campus and others have no job option and are done.

This is terrible. I hope the leaders of DeVry and Ross are happy with this decision.
