AMD stock up 600% over the past 12 months... Intel slashing prices as a result of AMD competition.
A Fudzilla post reports that Intel has already cut prices to see off competition from Ryzen. Based on initial leaks, we are all well aware of the Ryzen CPUs being on par or in some cases better than Intel processors in performance, that too at half the prices. The above post reports that "Intel appears to be starting to counter the new chip, even before it has been released. At Micro Center we've seen the six-core Intel Core i7-6850K (3.60GHz) drop from $700 to $550, and the i7-6800K (3.40GHz) drop down to $360, from $500." The post also reports other price cuts on Intel's offerings on different platforms and even goes on to pass a premature judgment stating "The fact that Intel is worried enough to drop its prices, means that Ryzen is likely to live up to its hype." Well, eventually things would be much clearer in the next few days. For the time being, AMD has an edge over Intel and has forced the Chipzilla into a corner.
