Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Ats

I am hearing that the majority of Osp has signed up For Ats throughout the company? It would be nice to know who didn't fall for The Ats shenanigans anybody said no? And if you said yes and feel you didn't have a choice in the matter? would like to hear those comments as well and why?

@2skg - We were told that if we stayed with Altice USA our days were numbered. Perhaps you don't actually know how the cable system works and that as of now, there is an "outside plant." That isn't just a clever name for the guys who drive bucket trucks, the HFC network IS the outside plant. When you build a FTTP network it's like magic - voila! That "outside plant" just completely disappeared! So now tell me how much sense it makes to forego learning anything about this new fiber network through ATS and rendering yourself completely useless by staying a coax tech (with no coax plant to work on) under Altice.

Yes, we all know this and apparently you don't have the capability to infer something or read between the lines. Construction and OSP were required to make this decision by the end of February. Nobody had time to sit around and wait for a union vote on March 1st. Hindsight is 20/20 and it also depends on where you work and which shop you're in. But with that being said, you guys are all acting like Oakland winning this is going to change everything. I hate to break it to you but one small/medium sized shop winning a vote means nothing. This doesn't change anything. The only way it would have made a significant difference would have been if it was the third or fourth shop to drop the hammer. Everyone is in the same predicament they were in before. Good luck getting a contract some time this decade.

Altice is going to cut it's about lining up their pockets not yours, it is much easier to get rid of a 1 week employee than a 5-20 year employee you have more rights not much more but more than with the unknown entity ATS

Staying at Altice USA or going to ATS was the illusion of choice. If you're in OSP or construction you had no real choice in the matter. As was stated before, ATS was the best option in buying some more time until we're all sent packing. None of us know for sure what will happen - we can only guess, but 4 years of continued employment is better than 1 or 2.

Eventually we will all be phased out and not needed . This was the only way to keep our jobs for a few more years . We are classified as non customer facing we really didn't have an option . Just like all the construction techs.

There was no choice, staying meant your job soon. They made that clear when they said they were phasing out technical operations at altice usa. OPS had no deal for protection as they said we are not considered customer facing employees. Once ATS formation was complete it would not of been long before they cut you loose if you stayed. Either option benefits Altice, moving over was just about buying some time.

I believe people think they can't find nothing better than what they got now that's why they are just going with the flow instead of trying to fight it. They are unaware they will get the short stick in the long run and will probably deal with it at the end instead of now.
