My manager and most others promoted to high levels have reputations for being rude and callous. Those are considered good skills, and they are rewarded for their lack of any feelings toward staff. Why?

But Dsr managers are unwelcome at other local businesses. They dont need the negativity and fingerpointing.
She made Bob a sandwitch and covered it with hot sauce. He took one bite, spit it out on his shirt and threw it face down on the floor screaming "are you trying to kill me"? She dud it on purpose
So true. I had a Department Manager over an entire group that told all about his life, he belonged to the "church" that worshipped Satan, bragged about cheating on his wife with another woman, bragged about going to Platos retreat and getting involved with men. Dst loved him as he could keep people in line using well founded fear of him. But when he tried to illegally claim full social security disability , while working 45 hrs a week, for a fake illness, we turned him in. That was his undoing, along with cocaine use. Had we not been proactive, Dst would have kept him forever. Mental abuse is more hateful than physical abuse, but Dst directors do not care. If you get laid off its a blessing in disguise.
Nobody cares how employees are treated. So if your a manager you can do no wrong. Just meet deadlines and you will have a cushy job for life.
Because bad managers cannot be acknowledged. Admission of a mistake. So they are free to work here their whole lives. Nobody criticizes them.
