Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Who's decision was it to Hire Tommy?

All Tommy Boy did was cut cut cut. Anybody can get the stock to move by cutting the guts out of a company. Did he ever come up with a brilliant, innovated idea? Tractors ... bhaaa!!! Wasn't it he that decided to cut Outdoor Adventures...what should have been the face ... the soul of your company. Did he even have a research and development department? Or did he just nock-off everyone else's stuff. I guess you can't have a R&D Department when you don't hunt or fish. Remember when you had to take a hunt/fish test to even work at Cabela's? Tommy and his team would have failed miserably. So I ask again ... who hired this nitwit?

post after post of rumors you wonder which one will be true. In a way Cabela's for not offering any information has lead to so many rumors like we see posted. However one rumor which I can guarantee will not happen is Cabela's is not going to declare bankruptcy

They prepped it for sale, the sale didn't go through. Next, load it down with debt and bankruptcy. It's done. Run while you can.

I remember sitting in a meeting of financial analysts with CAB right after Tommy was hired. His words resonate with the things happening today. He stated that he was hired to bring Cabela's back to their core business. What was Cabela's core business? Catalog, online and destination retail presence. Everything including WFB was on the chopping block. It took some low level managers to convince the Buffalo and Tommy not to sell WFB at that time. WFB is the only reason CAB has survived as long as it has. The president of WFB always said that Cabela's made money in spite of itself. Huge brown noser that individual is. He'll also get a large payout when/if the deal goes through. Paul Singer's group did nothing but make a statement when they bought a chunk of CAB stock and options. They saw easy pickings in Cabela's. Scared Tommy enough that he'd lose his job to make him react inappropriately. The board of directors are nothing more than spineless idiots that haven't a mind for themselves. Regardless, the damage has been done and reputations have been hurt. Tommy is seen around town at WalMart and the walk in clinic. I do know that if he recognizes you, he turns his head quickly and walks the other way.

"I don't think". Is funny and sad - funny in that the true face of the company was built, tested and proven by users, period. Did the ladies that manned customer service hunt and fish during the formative years, absolutely not although D--k and Jim had the foresite to place users in the form of product speciasts in place to support the ladies. This is why the company was sold or is trying too - it's remembering what brought you to the table with key people who do make decisions on gear and product.

Talk about a company famous for putting the wrong people in the wrong places. It killed us.

I don't think it's necessary to know or love how to hunt and fish to work for this company...example - do all IT guys go hunting or fishing on their days off (I'd rather have them coding in their free time) - what we need is more "right" people in the "right" departments...was Tommy the "best" decision - sure, if you knew you wanted to sell the company.
