I was a Nabisco DM for 13 years before my position was downsized out. I went to Keebler 2 years ago because of "awesome advancement oortunities" as a sales rep. During those 2 years, my SR position went to SR to Designate then back to SR.
I remember being in a store one day with my boss and a PT merchandiser. We saw the cereal rep (still don't know what they do all day) and his boss who was just walking around with hands in her pockets. I thought to myself there is 5 Kellogg employees in here and I'm the only one doing something revenue generating! Anyway I got out because the writing was on the wall - zero based budgeting, huge sales goals, no innovation, the cookie line was a joke, the bar business and fruit snack shelf space dwindled to nothing etc.
Anyway DSD is expensive to operate. Keebler is the perfect company for a Walmart to start with...maybe 10 really crucial SKUs that customers would demand. Nabisco and Frito-Lay will be next.
For those of you boycotting Kellogg's it may be a better idea to boycott Walmart as well.

Some grocery chains in the area Kroger are already testing ordering all DSD first it Was Keebler and Nabisco. Wouldn't surprise if Nabisco gets pushed that direction after a year.
I've heard the same rumor too. Nabisco Corporate is watching Kellogg's to see how well the transition goes and their costs savings. Over the years we have flip flopped with them, Nabisco implemented some our programs and Kelloggs grabbed some of Nabisco's.
What Glenn says could be true. One of the receivers at a WalMart I service said the Nabisco DM told her it could very well be happening to Nabisco too.

Nabisco will be jobless like us soon. Their company will prob lay them off in July so they'll get all the jobs before we do.
I have been hearing they are going to the warehouse model at Wall Mart too all week.
