I had submitted a tip to The Globe and I have had 2 interviews with a very thorough reporter who is in the business section. His name is Dan. You can call the tipline @ 617-929-7400. Tell them this is in regard to the Staples layoffs. If you are not in the Boston area and were laid off elsewhere contact your local paper or news outlet. Make your voice heard.

I got out of Staples 5 years ago. The economy wasn't that good. I took a less paying job with more peace of mind. You people at Staples have better oso. a long time to do ptions today than I had. Economy is much better and there is no reason why you should put up with a company that doesn't appreciate you. No one likes to change jobs, however now is the best time in
I think everyone should contact the media when they are being laid off from Staples. As soon as I was told I was losing my job the next day I called the local media to inform them of Staples plans. This company shows no mercy so they deserve every piece of bad press they get.
Here is the thing - it is 2017 and Staples is in rough shape.
Anyone that works there and does not recognize what is going on around them is delusional. Staples has become increasingly shady and the culture increasingly toxic each year.
Get out ASAP or do not be surprised when you are screwed over - it WILL happen, if it has not happened all ready. Working there is analogous with a bad marriage and domestic violence ..
"yes he beats me, but he really loves me" - BS - he will just grow more drunk and violent and eventually kill you.
Get your act together and GTFO before that happens. This company does not deserve loyalty from any employee.
This is 2017 and Staples is still going strong by killing jobs across the country and sending employees to the unemployment line. Here is a thought to the CEO Queen in charge of this sinking ship. Consider saving money and remove the company name off the Staples center in LA. If you can't afford to keep employees working and have to continue with job cuts quit spending millions of dollars on naming rights for a sports center. Staples could fill up that place with all the people they are letting go. This company is getting worse every year with job cuts. Screw staples and shop Amazon!
Staples still has money to keep really bad press away from the public. But as was mentioned earlier on this thread, Staples doesn't really care about bad press. They have no shame. Although they are very quiet as of late since it's going downhill very quickly and they're trying to drain what's left of this publicly traded company.
If the news gained traction and other media picked up the story, and this affected the stock price the boards executive compensation committee could act to reduce (or at least not increase) executive compensation. It would have to be a real extreme case though IMHO
Staples is used to the bad press by now - they do not really care about a Globe story.
As long as it is business as usual and the execs get to make their cash grab while F'ing over hardworking employees they are happy. No bad press will affect that. They know it is just part of the way things are now - again as long as it does not interfere with executive compensation.
The only way a story will have even the slightest effect is if the Globe focuses on the enrichment of the execs as they F'over the common employee. Mass layoffs, closures, outsourcing, lowball raises, etc, while the execs get huge payouts.
Looking forward to read the article and sharing it on all social media.
Thanks, I have plenty to tell him. :)
