Welcome to the great Vmware Layoff carnival, celebrated every year in the month of January, where competent engineers and managers who have groomed and nurtured teams are unceremoniously given the boot. Vmware believes in indiscriminately and wantonly hiring people even in loss making units and when things reach a tipping point, battle tested employees are laid off (Vmware does-not fire employees who are less than a year old in the company). Vmware is NOT an option if you are looking for some stability in your career. This is NOT from a fired disgruntled employee but from a current employee who have been seeing this lunacy for quite sometime now.

VMware is a place where you work your a-- off (obviously meeting and exceeding expectations) to get the boot eventually. This company is managed by a set of incompetent directors and VP's who are scared to death of high performing people. Besides this decisions are racist decisions, so if French in control all the EU guys get the boot along with the Arabs. If in the US, expatriate Indians give the boot to the Americans, if Italian in control, they fire anybody doesn't entertain s-xual relationships or is a drinking body.

Anybody believes that he is secure, he needs to wake up and get his act together to find a job. When they give you the boot or try to give you the boot.. negotiate hard exist package on the basis of discrimination. This company management is full of S*** that they will settle with you because they don't anybody tapping into their secret world of organized crime,
I am some one who tried to f*** but I prevailed and annouced it inside the company office. No words uttered and if they read this they will know me but can't do anything.

There is no such in any org. After the first week , which is somewhat safe then the layoff. One year is too long for Share Holder Value.
Don't worry with Dell EMC stake they will run VMWARE to the ground . Everything Dell touches turn to crap
BS.. i was at VMW and I was impacted by a layoff.. I know a few more folks were in the same situation as mine.. all <1 year.
Totally agree.. Hard working people are let go just because they hired in a redundant role and that new crappy person is less than a year in vmware.. the good old guy got the boot..
Agreed, everyone needs to be prepared if not this time may be next time. There are people who are serving for 8-10 yrs too. But the business justification is so not valid.
