Just pondering if anyone thinks there must be a power struggle between the execs in operations and the execs in academics. One day its this and the next is this. Nobody seems to be on the same page. Maybe just me...

1aar: 1dyb is speaking words of wisdom to you. There's a line spoken in the "Lord of the Rings" by Gandalf the White while being chased in the underground mines of the Dwarf Kingdom. He said, "Run, you fools!"
Severance check, if you call two weeks salary a severance check. If you're holding out for that you must be really desperate.
1aar: What assurance do you have that you will get a meaningful severance check? The longer a company is in decline, the lower the severance amount. The company has no obligation to pay you severance equal to past severance payments - or even any severance at all. If you believe you are losing your job this year, you are taking a gamble by waiting for severance. It is easier to get hired while you are working than after you are let go. Also, mass layoffs will increase the competition for available jobs. Get ahead of the game. Don't leave your fate in the hands of those who have no right to control it.
I've been here for 5 years. Things are worse than ever. I have no explanation for why I'm still here other than I am drawing a pretty good salary. I assume we will close down sometime this year and I'll need to find something but want my severance check.
It's because no one has an idea on how to fix this thing. Never seen a company change things every other day like this one.
At least students are getting a great education, graduating at record numbers and getting placed into high paying jobs.
OOPS Never mind
Two cats fighting over a dead rat. Sad, pathetic and devoid of purpose.......
I've had the same experience. Not sure of the cause but it isn't helpful on any level. Morale is low on my campus.
I as faculty am told one thing one and then another
What would be an example? I think more likely is that information is just coming in pieces instead of one full message. That's usually the case every time something changes here.
