Thread regarding Wal-Mart Stores Inc. layoffs

Layoffs starting tomorrow?

I understand that rooms have been booked up at the home office tomorrow for a massive layoff hitting finance, HR/recruiting, and ISD. Has anyone received planners? At least they are generous with a severance policy for us that might be impacted.

Someone better ask Trump for help. Oh wait -- I forgot he already tweeted congratulations to Walmart a few days back for "adding" jobs, so he's not going to double back now and lose face. You've been duped, Trump-voters! The good news is that we'll all die soon anyway because Trump is sure to start a nuclear war at the rate he's going. #bigly

Do you know how many in shows & events and corporate affairs? Was public relations affected?

They hit Home Office last week and yesterday in Responsible Sourcing, Global Food Sourcing, a variety of regional positions. Corporate Affairs today, layoffs in public affairs, foundation, shows & events. Package was generous, but are there lawyers who can review them? They are eliminating positions, which means once the severance packages are signed they tweak slightly and fill again. You can't lodge a complaint about them bringing back your job if you sign. Weak leadership at the top, none of this is strategic or surgical.

In San Bruno they let go of ten associates who I knew well. This was done were around noon today. We were told no further layoffs r scheduled. Fingers crossed. Sorry to see the associates leave and the impact this is going to have on them. Just wish them well.

This was a result of bad planning and a lot of VPs saving themselves and leaving the team to take care of themselves. Wish they had taken out all those useless directors and VPs. We are all going to be in the same boat next year. Time to look out.

I have been hearing that most of these are HR jobs but really have seen or heard of many HR associates let go. Do we know when bulk of HR will be affected?

I was impacted on the Sam's Home Office side today, 1/24. Yes, severance was generous and lots of info to help with landing on my feet. I was laid off twice with the same company before going to Walmart. So, I was familiar with the cadence of the meeting I had this morning. Still stings a bit, though... :(

Mkt-creative and now the media team at the very least 15. Piss poor leadership, lots of bosses and no leaders. That's the Walmart way.

Marketing creative team was hit pretty hard today, funny how most of the team had ten or more years with the company. I myself was at 18, wonder if there's an age discrimination law that has been violated? But then again, they pretty much own everyone in Bentonville.
