Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

What is strike pay and how much would I receive?

You're probably thinking..... wait a minute.... we're not unionized. A strike? Well, these are the issues that you will experience should Altice go too far. Of course, their plan of action can occur before the signing or at the end, of your first contract. JUST BE PREPARED and make the wise decision.... that is good for yourself and your family. Let's begin...

What is strike pay and how much would I receive?

When strikers stop working, they do not receive their normal paychecks, but they will receive some money from the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Strike Fund. Many local unions also maintain their own strike funds to help their workers through difficult times. Local strike benefits are determined by the local. Strike benefits from the International Union are based on the following formula:

If you earn less than $11 per hour, you will receive between $75 and $110 per week. For all other members, strike pay is equivalent to four times your monthly dues amount per week. For example, if your monthly dues payment is $70, you will receive $280 per week (70 x 4 = 280).

If you wish to find out more, here's the link from which the above information was received. This is NOT the IBEW rules. But it is close. Again, in your next meeting, ask the union spokesman, that if such a scenario were to occur, based on other contracts, what "roughly" your pay would be? BE PREPARED and ask the questions that matter!!!

As if any of this even matters. The failures in Piscataway and Bronx prove that no matter how bad things get with Altice, a union will never ever happen here - ever. Once these idiots who voted no finally come around and realize the error of their ways it will be too late or they'll already by gone (via layoff due to duplication) anyway.

Are you sure about $400 per week from the CWA? Provide the link so that others may know it isn't a fairy tale. Only because it's too f--king high! That's $20,000 a year.for carrying a sign. The fellas are trying to make an informed decision. And they all need as much help and LEGIT information as possible. Provide the link or a copy of a current contract. The BS stops here.

Thats what verizon techs got...they were on strike for 7 weeks. And you dont strike unless its voted on by the techs. they dragged it out cause the company was trying to jip them on benefits. And verizon techs can afford it more to be on strike...the average cwa verizon Tech earns around 130k a year...who in altice cablevision makes that?
