One of the problems I've always had with unions is HOW MUCH these guys get paid for "talking" with your company while YOU were marching around with picket signs. And YOU don't want to know what your compensation during a possible strike. It will be NO WHERE near your weekly salary. On top of that you're still obligated to pay union dues during a strike. Ask a union rep what your compensation would be if a strike scenario were to occur. If he doesn't know, ask him what the compensation is for ANY current union contract, as an example. Good luck with that. Here's a link for the current salaries of YOUR IBEW representatives. Keep in mind.... their salary stays the same STRIKE or NO STRIKE, while yours sinks like a battleship. 450 IBEW salaried employees, of which, 10 are Intern'l VPs at about $206,000 per year, roughly 150 Intern'l Reps making $140,000 on average. organizers are averaging $90,000, a receptionist is listed at $63,818 PER YEAR..... a RECEPTIONIST! They say "hello" to you when you enter a building for Christ's sake. You've got 24 employees earning less than $40,000 per year. Out of 450. Fellas.... and ladies..... I always found it difficult for someone to say "I know what you're going through" if they're not going through it. Or, "I feel your pain." If union reps took a pay cut in the same proportion as the striking workers, then we're talking. But their wages remain unchanged during YOUR times of duress. Keep in mind, union reps will know your salaries. In the next meeting, ask the "rep" what is his salary? Will his salary go down while you earn a "strike" salary? And ask, if there were a possible strike, WHAT WILL BE YOUR TAKE-HOME PAY? Only those who show up, sign in and march around for hours, are eligible for this pay. In my opinion.... their salaries.... for what they do.... is a joke. And YOU think owners make a ton of cash from your sweat? You're damned if do... and damned if you don't. Their RECEPTIONIST makes your salary look like s--t! Believe it not, they have an employee listed as WYATT EARP. WYATT EARP!
Fellas.... I just gather the info for YOU to decide. So that YOU can make an informed decision. Don't believe me.... then check out the link. This information is a public record, which can also be found on www.UnionReports.gov, which is a government-run website.
