Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Still more anti union drivel

"Merit also ceases to matter when unions guarantee members their jobs. It’s one thing to demand that workers not be fired for forming a union, for demanding that employers obey labor laws, or for negotiating for better pay and benefits. It is another, however, to prevent employers for firing employees who are simply not very good at their jobs."

This s the biggest lie of all that I always hear repeated is that you cannot fire a union worker. b---s---! True, a union worker will have representation before being fired, but I do not see that as bad thing. And by the way, if a worker is not very good at his job, is lack of training a possible reason?

Ok..so i guess you can represent your self and plead for your job when your day comes to be some of the next in line from corporate reducing head count.

Your so smart...dont pay for representation at all...you can be your own lawyer in court too mr. Smarty pants!

No. Not management. Just informed. I ask questions. I don't buy into propaganda from either side. I get facts and decide for myself. I've also researched unions in general. Everything the union says is out of a playbook. All they do is try to rile up everyone emotionally. The fact is the days of unions delivering anything have been over for years. I'm not payin for that sh*t

You do know that since the cba was agreed to multiple techs were fired in Brooklyn. And yes, there were multiple grievances filed. Cablevision/Altice has won every single grievance. Union doesn't care cause they got their cut. If anything they're sick of the grievances because they cost the union money and they keep losing the all.

notice how when they spew that BS, they never draw any comparison to Brooklyn.

please tell us the number of employees that have been fired since 2012.

please tell us how the number of grievances have been won/lost

management already know that union benefits workers and hinders them from doing whatever they want to do when it comes to the terms and conditions of our employment.

some of us refuse to understand this simple concept.

Brooklyn created a pathway for all shops to unionize but management will continue to prevent this from happening (at all costs)

  • no ATS being offered to Brooklyn

  • no separation package being offered to Brooklyn

  • no unilateral changes can be made without it first being negotiated. period.
