Thread regarding Zenith Education Group layoffs

I hope there is an investigation by the trump administration. Nothing is better for faculty since ecmc took over cci. Benifits are higher cost, work day is 12 hours paid for 8, you have to work unpaid overtime for what used to be paid holidays, new company pto plan steals earned time off that we couldn't use any way because wages are so low that no one in their right mind will fill the adjunct instructor positions, no cost of living increases to keep up with inflation, salary does not reflect market for accreditation required qualifications. Company says that they want to be the best it can be for the students they can start by treating faculty better.

You didn't get a raise dummy you just got back what was taken from you last year and you got screwed on the new pto plan. Ma mma y'all are part of the problem. " oh my this is the best job I have ever had " talk about no self esteem Kool-Aid drinkers. "It's about the students " shove that up your a-- too. All faculty deserveve better conditions and better pay for having to deal with incompetent leadership that can't even justify their existence.

Everyone at my campus got a raise last month. If you didn't than I would ask you CD/AD. My healthcare also went down per paycheck this year with comparable coverage. I would like to see faculty go out and get a job as a MA/MAA at the same rate they are getting to teach

Don't disagree about middle level administrators. But senior management is destroying this place. Worst I've ever seen.

FIXED: There's NO effing money to spend on adequate instructors.

Middle level administrators are a detriment to the school, faculty, and students.

There's NO effing money to spend on inadequate instructors. The instructors can't agree on anything, constant infighting and arguing about trivial things. I never seen a worse group of egotistical nitwits in my life.

Leadership here is stupid. The faculty are the brains of this place. Maybe some day they will finally get it that management here is our subordinates to taking care of the product we are trying to deliver with no support from the top. We deliver as faculty a highly developed workforce if we are listened to and supported. Keep tuning out faculty needs and the ship will sink. We can do your jobs you are not qualified to do ours

The last poster is a dumb--s. If you don't take care of educators we will be forced to go do something else. Then you won't have a high skilled labor force and they will all be dumb--s protesters

No need to treat the employees better, you get paid to work. If you don't like it, leave. It's that simple people. Taylor isn't going to give you anything, the company is still losing money. Get over it already!

If zenith cared about their students they would treat the faculty better and make sure the faculty is successful.

Don't worry, Trump says he will "Make America Great Again," so all faculty will be great.

OP - Most of your comments (salary, benefits, lack of raises) reflect an unfortunate and poor working environment, but nothing illegal. Regarding the overtime hours you work, what is your status with the school? If you are salaried, there is no overtime. If you are adjunct, read your contract. If the work requirements violate the contract, you can invoke whatever breach of contract action the contract allows for, hire an attorney or just deal with it. If you are hourly and are not paid overtime, you may have a valid complaint - for your local labor board, not the DOE.

An investigation by the Trump administration into...what, exactly?

The (likely) Secretary of Education is very pro for-profit schools. She is not likely to make a 180, and cause any of them any undue trouble, or bring negative attention to the sector. The (likely) Secretary of Labor is very pro-low wage and anti-union. The President has made a good living stiffing contractors, underpaying the help, and declaring strategic bankruptcies, Alumni of Goldman Sachs--a big investor in for-profit schools--will be filling a number of cabinet level (and below) positions, in the new administration.

Your complaints are quite valid. But I'm afraid you are not following current events.

Beginning 8th year employment, have never called in sick, or missed any time at work: the new Zenith balance for PTO has a blank page. Pretty decent way to encourage your staff.
