Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Shouldn't congress be looking into

STT like they did with the CEO of W-F?

He eventually "retired"

@Woman laid off

No pun I feel your pain I was at SST for 28 years and put in 150% Drove into work during the

worst snow storms possible fearing for my life. But my job required me to be onsite .

The problem I started to see the last 10 years was the people I call Bosses's pets being given the following

perks.

  1. The easy work load

2 Not being asked to work weekends

3 Not being asked to work overtime (unless they wanted to)

I saw this happened to women and to some men who refused to play s--- up to the Boss

The one thing is companies do not realize the advantage of keeping and hiring older workers over 45yr

We show up on time

We do not stop working to answer our cell phone or to answer or send textes

We do not take phony sick days on a Friday or Monday

Yes, I agree that State Street needs to be investigated. I am a former employee who worked at State Street for many years and was eventually laid off like everyone is. I dedicated my life to working for State Street taking the t to work many times in the middle of a major snowstorm since I lived fairly close to a t station and when this happened I was only a handful of employees that did show up.

At that time I worked in mutual funds and since we didn't all have work from home access it would have been impossible to price the funds at the end of the day if at least a few of us hadn't shown up.

Additionally, I did make many lateral moves but didn't move up like most people do since I was only a handful of women who worked at State Street. Women are still discriminated against in the work place. I know since I have experienced it first hand. I am an older women who had a difficult time finding employment when I was eventually laid off from State Street. Most companies prefer to hire younger workers which is understandable. The unfortunate thing about State Street is that when they lay off most of their employees a good number of these jpbs are sent to India or one of their global sites such as Luxembourg, Australia, etc.

Anyway, it is time for me to get ready to go to work. I will continue to post on this site until something is done about State Street and all of the other large financial institutions that continue to send jobs to other countries with little regard for people who they are laying off. Considering the way that many financial institutions treat people, it is surprising that we all aren't all living out on the street.
