For Irvine people. Do you notice all the townhall meetings are in north cal now? Is this implying the head qurerter is moving north?

@Lk4vxkx-Gdtm The lease for WD Irvine has been extended to 2022; however, it would probably take that much time (or less) to transition all operations up to Nor-Cal.

HGST built that beautiful headquarters building for a reason. Haha...WD owns it, only leases the Irvine space. Just a guess, but it seems they've been planning to move headquarters up north for quite a long while.

Heard some coming layoff rumors from different directions of low level engineers. Is it really happening soon?

WD Irvine will cease to exist after the lease is up in 3 years. HGST wins and to the victor goes the spoils. Good luck everyone!!!!

Old Read-Rite cronies are also the survivors. Beware of Fremont and their relations with ATE/China! Good, hardworking, diligent, loyal employees being forced to resign before the big March layoff.

HGST management were the survivors: Milligan, Cordano, Long, Grace, Campbell, Kagele

working bees are from legacy w.

Ask the HGST folks and they will say the other way. It was HGST management that got wiped out, and so were most of its brightest engineers.

With the addition of SanDisk, more excutive time is spent up North, so only seems to make good business sense to shift executives and support functions there over time.

It has been like that for almost 1.5 yrs. look at most, if not all, the sr executives are from hgst, middle mints are from Sandisk, working bees are from legacy w. There are many causes that hgst people got promoted higher like to VP positions so they can sound like and officially manage people from legacy W.

Sad. Most if not all, legacy W people feel like we got cleaned house. We bought other companies and at the end, it feels like we got bought.

WD leases the buildings it currently occupies in the Irvine Spectrum. The lease is up in 2020. There are indications that corporate will move all operations to Nor-Cal. You'll have to be rather special before WD offers to move you up north to the expanded/upgraded campuses in Fremont/San Jose.
