Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

SWN's Human Resources function

I'd like to request feedback from anyone who wants to chime in regarding the HR function at SWN. Our thoughts is that it is dysfunctional and always has been. What will it take for upper management to clean up this company ?

HR is a waste of money, in any company, they should just do the hiring and training and get out of the way, when looking to layoff, HR is the first place to go.

blowdown--- absolutely, get last bit of value... keep a hand full of field people, a few accountants, ( senior management of course) ... maybe a floor of petro-techs and landmen to help avoid future lawsuits ..someone to do HJ for sr VPs.. thats another floor :)

So the business model.. stay in cash flow ( limited because of hedging) , don't spend on new projects ... leaves no option but slow liquidation of company. So i don't see how stock goes up-- even with higher gas prices- hedging creates a ceiling. You could argue that you should borrow like made to invest in 1.3 PVI projects --- those are mid-teens to 20's % return/ money at a few % .. it shows that the PVI game was a 'shell game' or a 'ponzi" scheme

You are left with rearranging the deck chairs/ HR initiatives. I could argue that the smartest thing for SR management to do is s--- as much as for as long and they can and then flee as it goes under.

There really is nothing to grow... as employees, get as much as you can while you can and start preparing an exit plan... all that means you nor sr management are going to spend anytime on "team work" / 'future culture" "low cost" "PVI" ... just the normal and well documented trajectory of an E and P company

What SWN is, is not what SWN was or could be again if upper management actually cared about anything other than their Stock options and Bonus. Currently the stock price reflects just that. Soon the days of the low cost producer focused on a team environment will have to return if SWN wants to survive as a company.
