What is the plan for most people? Transfer to IBM and ride it out for another month or two until they tell you goodbye? It's so disgusting that this transition makes it so we'll never get our proper severance. We've known a day like this could come, but in such mass, it's incredibly troubling. I do wonder why it's not on the news.
I'm scared. I'm a junior in high school and my brother is a freshman in college. How could my dad afford to pay for college let alone healthcare if he gets laid off? He's applied for a job but it's been a year and they are still talking but it's scary. Healthcare is so expensive. My dad has been on the brink of this since 2010. I just wish it was stable. I wish I knew if he would have a job next month or not.
If you're in Austin and haven't seen this coming for 2 years, you've been living with your head under the ground. Word of advice - move on. They don't care about you.
